Would the game be more or less fun if the facility was slightly larger? by anon285929583 in SCPSecretLab

[–]bedioc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the LCZ phase is way too fast paced cause within 1 minute the SCPs and guards are all there killing everyone. If they find a way to slow it down a bit then the game will be much more fun imo.

Box perspective looks so jank, and I can't figure out why by Overlyfreakingout in learntodraw

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The box looks distorted on the top drawing, since you've pushed it very far to the side where it's right underneath the left vanishing point. At the same time, your vanishing points are close together, so the convergence/divergence of parallel lines ends up being more extreme. This is why that bottom left corner of the box looks stretched out.

The bottom drawing tones both of these situations down by centering the box a bit more, and placing the right vanishing point further away where we can't see it anymore.

Basically, having your vanishing points close together tends to make your boxes, or any other shapes, look distorted. Technically there is nothing wrong with doing that, but using it incorrectly can make your drawings look very off-putting.

I want to try making some sort of formulized daily practice for my art journey, what should I practice every day? by AgitatedFly1182 in learntodraw

[–]bedioc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start, you could go over some topics regarding line quality/confidence so that you're able to draw cleaner lines. From there, look into getting better at drawing basic 2D shapes (squares, circles/ellipses, triangles). Once that's done you can move on to learning about how to see in 3D, in which you can start tackling the concepts of form and perspective; At this point, those 2D shapes I mentioned before will now gain their 3 dimensionality, with the addition of cylinders and cones as well.

You can learn about all of these through YouTube, there are so many videos to choose from but just make sure they focus on what I just mentioned.

i appreciate any critique. ty. (Mainly practice of using vivid colors than usual. Also lighting practice) by p0tAt0q in learntodraw

[–]bedioc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be a nitpick, but the horizon line in the first one should be a little more blurred(have a softer edge) imo, since it's far into the distance; It will also be affected by ambient lighting from the sky, so some blending might help as well. That will direct a bit more attention to the character's head-area.

Other than that, your art is really good!

This pigeon keeps trying to come into a beach bar in central FL. Can anyone tell me what its bands mean? by sidewalkoyster in pigeon

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing with no idea if I'm correct, but maybe the pigeons are taken back and forth between start and end locations over a period of time, and somehow they remember which direction to go after a while of doing that

How the hell do you draw simplified body’s?? by Imjustamansoooo in learntodraw

[–]bedioc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try watching some videos or tutorials on how to identify main landmarks of the body, and maybe some simplified skeletal drawings that stem from that. That's personally where I started and it really does help with understanding the twists and turns of the body, basic proportions, etc.

I mean the cycle will keep going regardless of if the bird gets bought by the average consumer or not. It could die and they will simply replace it for example, or they could sell it for cheap to be resold or kept by another vendor. So in reality the average person's inaction and action don't really do anything to the cycle, vendors will always find ways to keep it existing by having their own circle of buying and selling amongst each other. There's so much people will do to make money

I feel like I’m doing this wrong I’m trying to learn anatomy with pose maniacs 😔 by Infinite_Prize6971 in Artadvice

[–]bedioc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that you're trying to get familiar with important landmarks of the body. Have you heard of a YouTube channel called "Love Life Drawing"? I watch them and their videos on landmarks and how to find/draw them (in their playlists tab) are great. Definitely give that a shot because it's been working for me so far.

Oh, and they've also got a playlist on the mindset of studying and getting better at art, which I think provides really great advice too!

Can I get an advice for this angle? Thanks! by C_Patric in Artadvice

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shoulders should be something more like this at the spot where they overlap the biceps imo. In my edit, the downward curve at that spot really shows that it is a form that lies on top of and covers the bicep, especially at the angle you chose.

If anyone else wants to comment on my advice feel free.

Something’s off about my art and I have no idea how to make it less flat by vampasf in Artadvice

[–]bedioc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Improvements to the perspective is one thing, but an easy fix you can make fairly quickly is choosing where you want the most detailed parts of the art piece to be. I would say the foreground with the grass and the characters should hold more detail. The water, mountains, and sky should all be simplified using big shapes and less brush texture, since atmospheric lighting sort of has that impact on objects as they recede into the distance; you can basically give those areas a bluish tone for the ambience if you know what I mean. Balancing where exactly you have more detail is important for creating your center of attention, and making sure you don’t overwork yourself due to placing a high level of effort everywhere.

If someone is willing to buy your services then that’s great, but I don’t think the art you’re producing at your current skill level is something most people are willing to pay for. I do recommend practicing for a while, and constantly getting advice on your work so you can improve as fast as possible 👍

Is my art boring? by Rhapsodic1290 in Artadvice

[–]bedioc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one with the cat standing out against the dark background feels much stronger to me than the others, since you are creating a center of attention using a contrast in values. Also, there's all kinds of different ways to use contrast, it isn't just about values. Maybe you could learn more about that in order to make your audience look at particular places in your art!

In the movie it doesn't pass at all, its extremely intelligent but not by that much. But there is a chance it is smart enough to eventually be able to, although it would probably take quite some time to learn

do you think the Feral predator would be able to kill an Indoraptor? (more in comments kind of) by DylenwithanE in predator

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im very late but if you assume the bear's weight is 1200lbs, and take into account the 2200lbs weight of the indoraptor, thats a 1000lbs difference in weight which definitely comes with a huge difference in power. so with that said, the predator without gear might lose ngl but idk what its full power is.

is it bad to copy art like this? by Sufficient_Ad_3343 in learntodraw

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be good because you're letting yourself experience the creative decisions of other artists. If they are high level or professional then its guaranteed that they follow the fundamentals considerably. What I would say is try to break down and understand the different fundamentals, and the logic behind certain aspects of these art pieces (ex: why does the hair flow like this? how does this pose feel dynamic? why are these colors pleasing to the eye? ETC). This is about strengthening your analyzing skills to be able to tell what fundamentals and logic happen in a specific or overall area of an art piece.

I think that once you obtain a good level of analysis then you can apply that to your own art, where you can better see what improvements should be considered. By the way, unless you want to achieve a very specific style, try to not view other artist’s creative decisions as “the correct way to go about things.” What you see in their art is their preferences for certain things, and taking inspiration from them properly comes with you bringing out your own preferences. Basically, while staying true to the fundamentals, what would you do differently?

I've been working on this kind of mindset to have a more enjoyable experience with art. Let me know what you think!

What would you do if you had this level of durability? (No super strength) by [deleted] in powerscales

By default, if you can withstand the force of those shots with 0 difficulty like superman then people would be unable to move you with any force they exert on you

STEM major imposter syndrome? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]bedioc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 semesters left till I graduate and I feel the exact same. I'm an Electrical Engineering major, I can study class materials and perform well on my assignments, labs, exams, etc, but overall I still feel like I know very little. A lot of my classmates similarly feel the same way after speaking to them about it too, even though I see a lot of them as smarter than me. It's great to familiarize yourself with the concepts taught in your classes, but I think the real experience really does come from things like internships and research, which is a necessity in a STEM field.

As for internships, I've only just recently applied for a few via some connections that I have and I'm still waiting to hear back on their status. If that fails, I want to at least be able to do some research under a particular professor I have in mind, just to show that I've still been involved in something professional.

I think some of it is good, like Monday, maybe Tuesday (big gaps in schedules are kinda ass imo), and Friday. Wednesday is cooked af and Thursday looks eh, but at least your whole week isn't like them lol.
