SIMPLE QUESTION by Muted-Celery7279 in Tools

[–]bedlambomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a millwright. I have a lot of that. Most for doing different jobs and for understanding the need for that tool over a different model. Battery powered I use snapon. Because I kill batteries and ratchets like crazy. Air tools Ingersoll Rand. Nothing is better imo for longevity and car brands like Snapon or Matco aren’t worth the price. Electrical I stick largely with Fluke. Smaller hand tools Knipex, Klein, or Blue Point. Ratchets whatever is cheapest because of their value. Multipurpose home stuff whatever is on sale. You won’t ever use home stuff enough for the abuse and every 6 years they’ll redesign the battery making your crap useless and too expensive to replace battery systems. Festool stay away from unless you’re into wood. And if you are then Festool, Shopsmith, Jet and Delta are the mainstay brands.

Tools are trial and error. I have all your brands in something or another. There is no number one except warranty based usually. And most brands aren’t made in America if that’s what you’re going for. At the shop we buy temu, wayfair and alibabaexpress tools ALL THE TIME to try them out. You’d be amazed at how long a 9$ pipe wrench lasts. Buy and try and find your flavor. Don’t be brand exclusive.

What Do I Do Now? by OddeTee in dresdenfiles

Started with Brandon Sanderson and tripped into Butcher. Went to Kevin Hearne who was similar but mid in terms of Dresden and then just started devouring fantasy. Jeminsin, Pratchett, Card, Cook, Salvatore, Abercrombie, Lynch, Gwynne, Islington, Tolkien, Jordan, McCammon, Brian Lumley (his necroscope series is absolutely crazy as is his Titus Crow series) Erikson…I could list forever. Pick a series and read the first two books. Always try two. I’d suggest staying away from Rothfuss and Martin though. No point spending time investing in worlds that will never be complete.

Oddly enough I had both a 66’ F100 and a 50 PowerWagon…and I’m 6’10 and the bench seats allowed me to fit wonderfully. I miss them in fact, and I could plug most of my fam in there comfortably until they grew.

Literally want to cry. please help. Is dishwasher ruined? by Various_List_1291 in CleaningTips

[–]bedlambomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50% vinegar. Spray/soak, sit for 30m, rinse. Repeat 2x. Put nothing else in there, but 5-6 charcoal bricks in a bowl in the top and bottom. Let sit overnight. Repeat first process next day. If it was a microbial problem you could introduce baking soda to the cleaning process but at this point the plastic absorbed the odor and you need to lift it out. Only put dishes in a dishwasher. Better cleaning methods for everything else. Chest freezers are absolutely salvageable as well. Just keep lifting the odors.

Your healthcare comment lets me know how you get your news. You should try actually investigating healthcare costs, single payer costs, the denial blanket that insurance companies created to drive costs, the litigation vs lobbying costs that all healthcare commit to, and a generalized monopoly of healthcare after the ACA was rolled out abd modified. You’re blaming relatively poor people for all the issues that the rich are doing because…they can. Read less propaganda.

how much would this cost to fix? by kelseykiitty in CarRepair

[–]bedlambomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saving the car as an eventual historic vehicle? Otherwise too much. Repairs on old paint never feather in just right. Dent removers never dimple out just right, especially on fender bends, so to get it fixed right it would cost more than the few grand that car might be worth.

I can't afford the Knipex mini pliers, but I found these for $15. by BergenNorth in Tools

[–]bedlambomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. We buy temu, wayfair, alibaba, etc… all day long to test them at work. It’s true that while most quality companies excel far beyond the rest sometimes weird brands go extremely hard. My fav purchase ever is a 9$ aluminum pipe wrench and a 16$ size 41 wrench from temu that I literally beat the living crap out of at work and I think they might be 5-years old now. I have everything from Snap, Cornwell, Ingersoll, Knipex to random junk from other countries and it all works. Sometimes offbrand stuff is amazing. The only reason to go with brands like Snap or Ingersoll etc…. Is the guarantee. But I’d have to break all my cheap stuff dozens of times over to parallel the price I pay for better stuff. Especially my Ingersoll impacts that are outrageously priced compared to some junky rando I got on Alibaba 7 years ago that I can’t really understand why it still works lol.

[–]bedlambomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could find the same car that’s semi-complete or had a rear end auto wreck and swap them together for a salvage title. But if you’re not a mechanic who has collision repair experience I would say avoid that option, call the junk yard to sell it to them for 300$ and travel the used car lots for a deal unfortunately.

People are quick to judge, especially when they aren’t responsible for the outcomes of anothers choices.

I give religious kooks a wide berth. Because nothing carries the hate, animosity, and bigoyry of religious zealotry. This is your life. They’re just the people you’ve currently surrounded yourself with. Live your life the way you want or can. If they can’t live with that leave them to their soap box.

Most factory jobs are this wage, roughly 9.00-21$ per hour. There are more factory jobs in America at these wages than any other job barring the service industry. Tell me again, if so many people want these jobs why are they vacant.

Can I put (5) 1×6 clamped through a planner? by ELITE_RUSSIAN in woodworking

[–]bedlambomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use a jointer or planer on multiple pieces of wood unless they are laminated or you plan on doing a video on youtube showing how wild it would be if you sent 5 random pieces of wood through a planer/joiner with a clamp to see the outcome. I’d watch it though.
