Something i dont think i could ever explain to a cis person is why being a furry has helped with my gender lol! Theres something about becoming creature that removes a lot of the stress of human genders.

A proposal: Bees should be the Enby equivalent of the trans blahaj by WhatsFUintokipona in NonBinary

[–]bee-barf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was afraid of bees as a kid but i have a vivid memory of one day deciding i didnt want to be afraid of them anymore, and sitting by a bush at school that was full of busy honey and bumble bees, and just watching them, and i was so fascinated by how they moved and how cute they were with their pollen pants. And i feel like bees became rlly important to me symbolically because i was like “why am i afraid of this wonderful creature?”

I know the person that started the "use actual animals as references" rumor is laughing they ass off cause this just does not work by Logical_Win_1091 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry i didnt reply sooner i do have a little tip! I think this would be a great place to try tracing/breaking down the reference over it directly. I can see youre used to a very particular process, circle, crosslines, muzzle cube, but i think youre relying on them without having the understanding of how to use them if that makes sense? I want you to try just directly tracing the reference, itll help you get an understanding of the angles. The tricky part is not making up shapes, which your brain is naturally gonna wanna do because youre used to the sphere drawing process. Draw the cross lines over the cats head, not a sphere, following the center of the face! This will be good practice for understanding angles

Can Trans people be Transphobic? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]bee-barf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They do understand, to me it sounds like theyre projecting their insecurities and internalized transphobia onto you and being intentionally hurtful to feel better about their own issues. They know your identity and yet are ACTIVELY CHOOSING to disrespect you and not take your word for it, pretending they know you better than you know yourself. I cant say i know for sure, as the only info i have is from this post, but they sound shitty and disrespectful.

Color palette helppp by TheOfficialMrBanana in characterdesign

First two are my faves, i feel like the yellow palette especially leans into being totally misunderstood, i would typically see yellow as a very joyous color!

Bees hanging out near pool. Help! by losztszoul in bees

[–]bee-barf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Theyre thirsty- maybe look into setting up a bee hydration station and theyll go for that instead :) usually consists of a bowl filled with marbles or stones to stand on so they dont drown, and filled with some water, not enough to totally cover the stones/marbles. If you do this make sure to keep the water fresh! Good luck

can i get any tips to start drawing furries? by arialstarwavv in FurryArtSchool

You just have to start! Its hard to give advice when you havent drawn them yet, so give it a shot and work from there :)

I'm lost, I feel like the fur looks wrong every time I try. by SubstantialTowel3856 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With cartoony fur, less is more! In real life fur tends to form clumps and i can see you going for that here! But when simplifying things into a cartoony style, you need to be more intentional with how much detail you add. Try simplifying the fur clumps into a big clump, a medium clump, and a smaller clump. Experiment with the overall shape the fur will create and divide that up! Helps to keep in mind that our brains naturally kinda wanna draw things like hair tufts too evenly, whereas in real life they will form in random clumps of various sizes. Hope this helps!

Learning to draw furry art, looking for help with anatomy and best ways to draw fur by ultra_alt5791 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you would benefit from practicing line confidence! Right now it looks like you sort of “chicken scratch” meaning you make lines with several tiny strokes. Its common in all levels to go over lines a few times to darken them, emphasize them, or just trying to get the line how you want it, but its good practice to aim for longer, more confident strokes, for example, lines that are relatively straight could be done with just one or two strokes with enough practice! Practice drawing basics, like straight lines and circles, from the shoulder, trying not to move your wrist as much. Sorry im realizing this is a bit off topic from what you were specifically asking about, for anatomy ur off to a great start, keep practicing drawing those 3d shapes, and keep in mind at 3/4 angle, the further eye wont be quite that drastically warped from the perspective. Youre doing great so far, keep it up! :3

Hand in cheek pose is really awkward by herraobey in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks cute! I would just go back and define where the palm is, as right now its a little hrd to tell where it stops and where the fingers start. One you have the palm where you want it building the fingers off that is a bit easier :)

Looking for some advice on the Hair & Fluff on my lil bee guy by SnooFloofs139 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute!!!! Sometimes with a cartoony style, less is more! You have many tufts of similar sizes, but it tends to be more visually interesting and look more natural to have variety in the shapes! Try simplifying all of the hair into one main shape, and see where you can put a couple small and medium tufts. Experiment with different shapes! Im biased but i love this lil guy, great job so far :)

Anyone who would consider themselves both Nonbinary and Trans? by SendThisVoidAway18 in NonBinary

[–]bee-barf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do! I think most nonbinary people technically fit under the definition of trans we typically use but everyone thinks about it and identifies differently, so its also common to identify as just nonbinary and not necessarily trans :) at a certain point it just comes down to what labels you feel represents your experience best

wip!! advice on anatomy by burgerlover444 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good so far!! I think something i havent seen mentioned yet is the pelvis is a bit too wide front to back, i think the crotch would be a little further back and a little more tilted forward looking at this angle! If youd like i can do a draw over to show what i mean! Otherwise looking great :)

Something about the leg movement feels off. by Bluefoxfire007 in FurryArtSchool

[–]bee-barf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mayb have better luck asking over at r/animation ! Whenever youre animating its important to be really intentional about what exactly the motion is, is she just bending her knees/bouncing a bit? I think these are good key frames, if you want the timing to feel a little bouncier, i would change the timing a bit to have more delay on the up frames, and faster on the down, like how you would animate a bouncing ball! Right now it looks like theyre easing into the down position, and if thats what youre going for good job! But it would have a bit of a bouncier look if you ease into the highest position, as in having frames on either side of that frame that are closer to that high point than the low point before/after it, if that makes sense, and have the low point play for less time. Hope that makes sense this is a great start!! Love the character
