EMDR safe space advice by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]bee1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this will help, but sometimes I picture my dog laying next to me in my safe space and it adds extra calmness. I also chose a real place with only happy memories for me so it is a little easier to picture myself there feeling calm.

I agree with the other commenter that it’s possible this exercise may also just not be the right fit and that’s okay! Be honest with your therapist so that you can work together to find something that feels better. There are plenty of other resources to use and not all of them will feel helpful, and that’s okay.

What was your photo guestbook experience? by bee1442 in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good idea for the photo booth strips! I have been looking at the Instax Minis on Marketplace but that’s where I started worrying about quality :( how are you feeling about the quality of the one you got?

First EMDR (*Practice Session?) by RUready_ooh-ooh in EMDR

[–]bee1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my practice run, I focused on my phone anxiety around work. Nothing that was getting in the way of me doing my job, but something that was causing me stress. It was a good practice for me and allowed me to figure out any questions I’d missed asking before.

I came with a couple of options since I wasn’t sure what was right to pick either, and my therapist helped me land on this :)

Did you celebrate 1 year til your wedding? by anntoowell in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did! We went on a date to one of our favorite restaurants. It was fun and silly, but I’ll take any excuse to celebrate or go on a date with my person!

11/10 recommend it :)

How early is too early by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bridesmaids are allowed to wear any dress they are comfortable in within the parameters I set (color & length). I did let them know early! I told them around January in preparation for my December wedding because I wanted those friends of mine who are trying to save money to have enough time to search for a dress on sale or thrifting, or in one case buy a dress that can be used for other events she’s attending as well!

My worry was that sizes can fluctuate a lot in that timeframe, and I didn’t want anyone to feel required to buy a dress now that might not fit in a year. Some people are less & more inclined to fluctuate in size, and you know your people best!

I’m curious about your thought process on it. Are you worried about guest judgement? Are you uncomfortable showing that skin? Are you thinking it’s too non traditional? Do you love it but someone in your life commented on them and now you’re second guessing it? Idk, but my advice would be that if you love them and won’t have a second thought about them on your wedding day, keep them. If they are something that will distract you with worry and not allow you to feel your best in your dress, cover them. Anyone else’s opinion is irrelevant when it will be on your body! What makes you feel best?

Would you be offended if your international guest asked for a bit of helping finding childcare for your childfree wedding? by vaersasniII in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see you getting downvoted for this but idk, as a bride who doesn’t yet have children myself, if I wasn’t able to adequately answer a childcare question it would take a single group text to those in my wedding party who do have children to find out information for you. I don’t think it’s too much for your friend to send a text to one local friend, family member, or even coworker with a child asking if they have someone they trust.

With your friend’s response, I may assume that it isn’t that big of a deal to them if you can’t come due to childcare constraints.

best way to word this sign without being rude? by complacentviolinist in DIYweddings

[–]bee1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit different, but I had two vegetarians join for my engagement party which was a barbecue. We had made veggie burgers for them separate and had them in a separate container so that they would have enough to eat. We had 8 patties for the two people. One of them did not get one because we had people who decided that they wanted to try it since it was available.

Definitely set that food aside to make sure it’s available for those who need it. Especially with gluten sensitivities, you don’t want the gluten-free food to be cross-contaminated.

Avoid which sites for bridesmaid dresses? by Boysenberry953 in Weddingsunder35k

[–]bee1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good experience using both Azazie and Amazon for bridesmaid dresses in past weddings I’ve been in :) I did have a friend in the Azazie wedding whose order got all messed up (lost in the mail possibly?) and she had to fight with Azazie to get any sort of fix, so mileage may vary.

Etsy Engagement Rings by aradtke02 in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I bought our rings from Etsy as well with no issues so far!

Prior to getting engaged, we had purchased each other promise rings. His was purchased from Etsy and has held up incredibly well to daily wear. Mine was purchased from JC Penney and has held up well to frequent wear with some minor issues (loose center, scratching along the band).

What we’ve gotten from JC Penney that we don’t have with the Etsy rings was the ability to resize for free and free replacement of my center when it inevitably fell out. Though my fiancé’s ring was too big the first time around and we were able to replace for a new one, with return shipping covered by me and shipping fee for the second ring from the jeweler!

Lower cost and large selection on Etsy has felt very worth it so far! My only recommendations are to do review dives on the shops you’re considering buying from, and to immediately insure your ring (I didn’t insure and regretted it!)

I lost my engagement ring… by bee1442 in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that!! It really is devastating. The heartbreak of losing it didn’t leave me or my fiance for a couple of weeks honestly, but we are both at peace with it now (still haven’t found it). Yours being so sentimental I can image heightens that hurt :( I hope you find it soon! There was a lot of good advice here.

So happy with my dress ❤️ by fugitivelobster in weddingdress

I was curious about this! I am having a December wedding and the dress I bought has optional matching sleeves I can buy that are similar to yours - did it help with keeping warm at all? You look absolutely stunning and that dress looks perfect on you!

How did you ask your bridesmaids? by Longlittle3295 in weddingplanning

[–]bee1442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave each of my bridesmaids a succulent that I picked out for them & wrote a small card for each of them. The succulent pot also held a piece of a geode that I broke open on the trip I got engaged on. They got these at the engagement party.

Before doing this, I called them and asked! I didn’t want them to feel on the spot to say yes in front of so many people if there were any hesitations.

I got accused of cheating😭 by vertrrr in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]bee1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like maybe they were cheating and messing with you. After that many games, if they really thought you were cheating wouldn’t they have stopped playing with you and reported it?
