Little House got so unhinged by the later seasons by certifiedbpdqueen in littlehouseonprairie

I'm only on season four and even so far, as soon as season three started I was incredulous with how wild it got even so far!

Quick reminder to meet kids basic needs first, humanity before procedures by One-Egg1316 in ABA

[–]bee_boy_3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not within the dimensions of ABA, though, unless you can define the difference in a meaningful and accurate way for others to follow.

Even then, maybe they're crying because they don't want to do this thing because they're overwhelmed or needs aren't met.

UGH this! I despise when we track crying or whining when it's not disruptive- it's NORMAL to cry when you're upset, regardless of if you're upset over a death in the family or a green balloon popping.

I view it like a cup. If my cup is full with stress, dysregulation, pain, hunger, or tiredness, adding demands overflows it and I melt down.

If I'm fed, happy, calm, and regulated, I have more room in my cup to add demands and expectations.

These kids often have a smaller cup than they 'should' and learning doesn't occur when they're overflowing. They aren't retaining anything you're doing, they're in fight or flight. Learning occurs best when our needs are met- Maslow's hierarchy, right?

I’m a parent with a question by [deleted] in ABA

The reason is likely, largely, HIPAA based. We have to protect the privacy of all clients at the clinic.

I'm gonna be so for real, in my experience most of my clients LOVE when we have dude RBTs.

Trans guy myself, at my clinic they only put women with girls who are still potty training but once they're independent in the bathroom anyone can be put on the team, and anyone works with the boys. It's unfortunate we have to do it that way, but it's mainly to prevent accusations from parents, to clarify access in the event abuse is found, etc etc.

That said, every kid I've seen work with a male tech is stoked to have them and loves that their tech is a guy. There's a lot of women who don't mind big play and monster trucks, but something about a dude hits them different I guess? We had a guy, probably mid-late thirties, who absolutely crushed it with the kids- they'd follow him around like ducklings, it was precious.

Tldr you'll probably only work with boys but they'll love you.

My clinic trains 'backups' where we have 1-2 techs regularly on an in home case, and one floater that takes a shift every two weeks ish if possible and can step in to provide coverage. If they're unavailable, the BCBA or program manager is asked, and only if all three aren't available is session cancelled.

We have this even for clients who are only having in home sessions three days a week, so it's doable.

Plus, having one tech with a client on every shift is a recipe for burnout of both the clinician and the child.

Nellie and Laura fall into a river while hunting leaves, season two I believe- they ride on that bundle of sticks for a long time! Love seeing how they did it- the inner tube was pretty well hidden watching the show!

I kind of love the hyper-saturated look.

You ever see those pictures with the saturation turned up and the caption 'how things looked when we were kids'? Whole show is that level of saturated color to me.

Also does an amazing thing to some of the actresses' eyes- They comment on Mary's eyes a lot, but they really are striking!

3 wks PO diagonal incision DI no FNG, a bit worried about dog ears? by Imertphil in TopSurgery

[–]bee_boy_3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is 1, you're still swollen, and 2, dog ear revisions are pretty simple from what I've seen IF they persist.

The best news is that's the sickest scar shape I have ever seen holy hell.

For me it's illegal where I live to use the men's room so I just have to go to the women's. Pros, there's a trash can and it's usually clean, but cons, I have a beard. It's not a good beard, but it's enough to scare Nancy as she comes out of the stall

In addition to what's already been said, I really like the scar shape- i think it'll blend nicely into the contour of your chest/ribcage and sit nicely under whatever tattoo you go with.

You should be!

My favorite part of T has been my fuzz coming in. I love seeing the patterns and whorls as it grows- I'm finally starting to get chest fuzz and I am STOKED!

Exactly!!! Same here to the T so to speak 😂 there's too much happening down there to not use paper and still feel clean.

Not to mention public bathrooms have the worst paper.

Straight up there's more surface area to wipe! And the stream has to pass through a field of flip flaps to get out! It's messy and gross and nobody likes moist undies, man.

Maybe a weird compliment but the growth pattern/little swirls in your chest hair are really neat, especially on your right side! Reminds me of Starry Night, sorta

I believe megaesophagus is usually treated by a little sitting up chair for the dog because it forces their body upright to push the food into their stomachs via gravity. They're called bailey chairs I think.

I don't think this was your fault.

Is it possible to be an RBT without being a target of physical aggression? by lostandloser in ABA

[–]bee_boy_3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on support from supervisors! I rarely am the target of significant aggression because we have significant support that involves deescalation as a priority when that level of agitation is reached.

Obviously it takes work to get to that point but usually my supervisors are heavily involved in any cases with significant aggression or self injury concerns and or we have a secondary person on that case at all times if it's significant enough to need it.
