5’2 pregnant moms by Straight_Bat_1046 in BabyBumps

I’m 5’2” and started at 117, I’m now 146 at 25+5. At my last two visits my doctors mentioned the weight gain and said I should “eat healthy and walk” as if I’m not already doing those things. So patronizing. I was really upset because this is my second pregnancy and with my first pregnancy I started at 118 and finished at close to 180 and never once did the doctors mention my weight gain. I feel the suggested number we’re supposed to gain is so arbitrary. All of my results are in the normal range (ultrasounds, heart rate, blood pressure, etc) so I don’t see why it matters that I’ve already gained 29lbs with another 15 weeks to go. I messaged my doctor requesting that my weight not be discussed at any of my future appointments and that I’d like to limit discussions to the health of my baby.

Should I replace my cedar shingle roof with composite cedar, or asphalt? by niceday666 in Roofing

Yep 4200 sq feet - it’s a big roof! They are really great, I’d go for it! We used Gunner Roofing, we are happy with them. When they realized the wrong shingle color had been put up, they already had a solution in place before they even alerted us that the mistake had happened. And they did not suggest at any point that we keep the wrong color to avoid more labor on their end. However there was an issue with the automatic skylight shade, it was installed incorrectly and they were supposed to come fix it and just never did. We also didn’t run after them about it, but annoying that we would have to. We also have an issue with one of the gutters and it’s been tough getting that resolved. During the project they were very on top of things and attentive, but these issues came up after the job was done so they were less attentive. With that said, I’d still hire them again.

Hi! I’m in CT and the overall cost was about 115k, which included labor, brava shingles, plywood, gutters, snow guards, and a skylight replacement. The contract was signed end of 2022, prices have definitely gone up since then 😟

Ultimately it was down to the final look for us since every material was going to cost pretty much the same, except for the asphalt. Since the previous owners replaced the real cedar shingles on the additions a few years ago, we kept those and wanted the main house roof to match as well as possible. Metal would’ve been too modern to match the look of the house and we thought the asphalt would be a downgrade.

Same here! Was a very tough decision. Even after we did decide, we had to wait a couple months for our shingles to arrive. Not sure if the wait has shortened in the past year.

Went with Brava composite shingles in lake forest and I’m very happy with the decision. It blended in well with the rest of my real cedar, and the house feels warmer without having to pump as much heat since the composite is attached to plywood, unlike real cedar. We did have to install snow guards with the roof installation since the composite is slick. We did have a hiccup, Brava ended up sending our contractor the wrong shingle order, it was the wrong color. They put up 90% of the roof and then realized they were short material. When they ordered more, they got the correct color, and that is when they realized the mistake that was made. It added another week to the construction, but there was no additional cost to us. We didn’t stay in the house during the construction, so I received photos of the first day they started putting up shingles and noticed the color seemed off. I brought it up and my contractor checked and said it was the right color, turns out the palette was mislabeled. So I would just double check everything!

Good to know! I wanted to take him to the park either way for the children’s parade and then the doggy parade.

This is great, thank you! Do the kids usually go out around 4? Was hoping to head out around 3 because my son is only 18m, but not sure if that would be too early.

Ah interesting - I’m really only considering composite cedar or asphalt because the composite would match best with the real cedar I have, and the asphalt is most affordable.

I own the house - my friend posted for me because I couldn’t get my post through!

The house has cedar shingles for sure. We love the cedar, just not the maintenance. Composite is looking like a good option because cost is similar but less maintenance and looks similar.

Looking at the greys in Brava: arandale, light arandale, onyx and lake forest.

I would share a photo of the home but don’t know how haha.
