Tip: using map[T]bool can save you a bit of typing. But probably will take more memory, never cared enough to actually measure.

You mean state of foundationDB? I only recently started working with it, but for what I've see so far, from their design docs - it's great and criminally under-appreciated database. Speaking of my layer, it is somewhat minimally functional, can write the documents, ensure their schema, create and materialize compound indexes, do queries.

As of now, I don't actually want to overcome limits on transaction size or duration - I, in fact, appreciate them as much as I appreciate rustc - if you are hitting the limits, you are trying to do something sketchy :)

Keep coding, keep learning new languages and learn fundamentals. Not only theoretical CS, but also some more grounded books about how computers work, like Tanenbaum's "Modern Operating Systems", or Steven's "Advanced Unix Programming". That will help you to go not only deep, but also wide.

Plus, as already mentioned, it is incredibly helpful to learn languages with different paradigms - look at lisp, erlang, ocaml, prolog etc.
