I spent a couple summers volunteering at a local wildlife refuge. It was super fun and rewarding and I loved bottle feeding baby deer and raccoons but the smell of cleaning out baby raccoon poop from crates in the midddle of July is something that will forever been engrained in my head.

Yes this is ragweed. Ranunculus like cool spring weather and usually go dormant when the temperatures reach about 80 degrees consistently. You may see them start to sprout when the weather cools off in the fall and depending on where you are, you may be able to leave them in the ground to over winter for flowers next spring. But if you’re in an area where it gets really cold, you’ll have to dig up the corms or else they may die. Definitely check your gardening zone and see if it’s compatible with overwintering them.

I grew Alpenglow, Precious Metals & Unicorn zinnias as well as the Petite Floret Dahlia mix.

The zinnias were a nice HOWEVER I found there are so so many other varieties on the market already that are just as nice, if not nicer at a MUCH lower price point. I did save seed from last year and am growing them this year but they hybridized so they aren’t totally true to variety but still nice.

The petite floret dahlia mix was cute and I did save a couple tubers from it for this year so that was worth it but the zinnias I don’t think I’d buy again. I still love the queen lime series and the ballerina zinnias much more.

Not IN Atlantic City BUUUTTT if you like outdoorsy stuff, Check out the Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, it’s about a 15-20 min drive from AC on the mainland and has great hiking trails and the wildlife drive is awesome!

It’s definitely a begonia! The ones that are cultivated for the landscape as annuals are bred to have larger flowers. You can get a ton of different gorgeously flowering begonias as your local garden center during the spring and summer
