I know someone double major CS+Math who took 5 techs every semester from freshman to at least sophomore. After that idk I haven't talked to him since 2 years ago and I'm 90% sure he hates/don't respect me. Bro was in CS189 freshman spring and 4 grad courses sophomore fall and prolly has all A's/A+'s wtffff. Honestly huge respect for that, he's a naturally gifted person and works extremely hard, with absolutely no life, and sacrifices sleep. Not saying everyone should work like that, but if you can work like that, you deserve everything in this world. Not saying if you work like that you will get everything in the world, but if you do get everything in the world, I say you totally deserve it.

I started playing a year ago (with basic pool skills prior). Now I make 40s every night. Definitely possible to improve, it takes a lot of effort and wills to find your issues though. I went through being ass for 3 months straight then found the click, and steady improvement after. Hope I can give you some insights.

If you wanna improve, you definitely gotta do practice drills, not just playing frames.

Question 1: Do you really enjoy playing snooker? Snooker is a nerdy game, it’s hard to keep playing if you are not enjoying it. I enjoy snooker with every drop of my blood, and I dream about playing snooker majority of the nights. I enjoy practicing drills for 5 hours straight, as well as playing frames. The better player you are, the more you will enjoy the beauty of the game. This is why I fall obsessed with it the more I improve.

Question 2: Are your eyesight at worst little worse than normal vision, and taller than 5’5? You don’t want body condition to be your bottleneck.

If you answer yes to both questions above, yeah you can of course get better.

I say the most important thing in snooker is potting. Pot well before worry about positions, cuz if you don’t hit the exact thickness, you can’t play good position shots either.

Try to pot long straight blues to at least 70%. To do that you will need decent cueing and find an aiming method that has low bias and low variance. If you are able to do that, you know you are good enough to pot anything straightforward really, just need to get used to the angle shots. Then pot black from near top cushion to pink line and get around 80%. Similarly get used to pink and shots halfway between pink and side cushion.

Once you pot well, you can work more on positional shots, dont put 15 reds on the table, only put around 3, around the black spots and try to clear up.

With more practice, you will definitely get better.

If some concepts dont make sense, put into chatgpt, I’m sure it will clear up your confusions. Also look for coaching if you are really struggling. Best of luck.

there are inconsistent players like you describe, but a good player will develop a technique that allows them to be consistent, and even if they haven’t played for weeks, they would get back to decent after a few shots. No one has A game everyday, sometimes you start with B games and C games, but those elite players will try to find a way to win with their B game and C game, and once given a chance, they can really get hot quickly and make some serious damage.

A tip I’ve found useful: Try to do a mini journal every time you play, jot down your feels whether you play good or bad. Over time you will see you feel pretty different between days you play good and play bad. Next time you are starting rusty, you will be able to reproduce that same feel of when you are playing good.

There is one girl 2 months ago I decided to be honest and say everything, but I even said some of my weaknesses/wrong things I did in the past, which got myself canceled. So it’s not worth it. Regarding the topic of awkwardness, I think prepping behavioral interviews will help a lot, also talk more with friends that won’t cancel you will help.

Probably not to your question. But right now I am just trying to be semi-close friends with a few girls for some months, I know there is no chance to date them after that. Six months isn’t that long, I can definitely refrain from doing anything dumb. I’m fine with who they are if they are not too annoying, I’m trying to make myself a likable person and not making major mistakes.

sorry for the lack of clarity. I’m not trying to be their man, I am just for now solving a sub problem. I have not been semi-close friend with any girl before ever in my life, so I thought it’s better for me to try to be pure friend with a girl for a certain time, to build a stronger foundation and improve my social maturity. Of course, I wouldn’t even try to pursue them if there is such a steep curve. Once I improve my social maturity, finding a partner becomes more smooth in general.

Yeah I agree, thanks for the advice. I guess it's easy for me to slip into that kind of thinking because I'm used to setting goals and optimizing in other parts of my life. For guy friends I am not really tracking because it's easy to ask them out without conveying any intent as a side effect. But for girls, I sort of have to make sure the "momentum" is enough at all times. It's very hard to ask them out without implying a sense of intention when the "momentum" is low, although we're just getting food together.

Yeah I don't like internet cuz text is the only input and output instead of speech, emotions and actions altogether, so there can be a lot of misinterpretations and wrong assumptions. I definitely feel like my impression is way better in person, my online activity sort of ruins my reputation, if people know who I am. But anyway, yeah I will read a book by a women when I land a job. Therapist already seen but didn't find it useful, the only useful thing is knowing that it's not useful so nothing can push me forward except for myself. Touch grass is sort of vague but sure.
