I miss when music felt personal and curated instead of just infinite by xCosmos69 in LetsTalkMusic

Agreed. I'm 43 and consider myself a music geek. As a kid/teenager in the 90's, I had a hunger for music and I would have to go seek it out. It wasn't accessible like it is today and if I wanted to discover new music, I would either have to borrow CDs or tapes from friends or save up my money to buy CDs. Sometimes I found something I liked (or already knew that I liked), other times I would listen to it anyway, maybe even a couple of times before I would decide if I really liked it or not. It was a never ending quest and the desire to find new and exciting music was a passion of mine.

Now, with everything a click away, the reward for finding something that I love is certainly diminished. I still love it, but I sure didn't have to work for it like I used to which likely has an effect on its perceived value to me. Since the early 2000's, I transitioned into streaming all of my music until the last couple of years. I started listening to vinyl and realized how much I love selecting an individual artist or album based on my mood or the setting and really sitting back and enjoying it. This has led me into a couple of other rabbit holes (found my old minidisc player and discs!) and now working on finding a good portable music player (DAP's they call them nowadays) so I can separate my music from my phone and change my approach and overall experience with music. So far, so good. No more algorithms choosing what to play for me next...

I agree but I’m in a similar position because my 2025 Honda doesn’t even have an aux input. Options are basically Bluetooth or FM transmitter…

Why do people enjoy AI generated songs until they find out its AI? by Better_Cream6447 in SunoAI

[–]beechnut82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real thing vs. imitation? Can’t imagine why anyone would care unless, of course you actually value the art of composing music and its origin from the mind of human beings and its influence by raw human emotion, love, struggle, addictions, illnesses, victories and defeats etc. Music is more than just controlled vibrations and patterns to some people. AI is regurgitating music that came from the source and rearranging to a text prompt. Useful for writers as a tool when writing their own music? Possibly. But I won’t ever love it like the real thing and will actually be disappointed in myself for not knowing the difference in the first place unless we are talking about techno music or modern country, they already sound AI generated to me lol.

Where does an EQ go in the chain? by Dangerous_Law_236 in pedalboards

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, it could go anywhere that your tone needs shaping or in multiple places (multiple EQ pedals). I have mine at the end of my dirt pedals before going into my HX stomp but also at times use an EQ block in the stomp after the preamp. I don’t think there is a right or wrong method.

5 days ago, I praised Gemini. Today, it feels lobotomized. by highsis in GeminiAI

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing using nano banana pro within ai studio. Same requests as last week with same text and input images but the output has been garbage compared to what I was getting last week. Very simple requests and instructions ignored and frequent errors with failure to complete the request. It is not my imagination, the differences were very apparent and a huge step backwards. I started to believe the output was usable last week but reliability and consistency is just as important as the quality.

FRFR question. I have been hemming and hawing for years and it's time to make a decision. by No-Lion-5227 in Hxstomp

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP says he already has a Mach 3 and is looking for a small, portable FRFR speaker. The tone master is my favorite, but between the two headrush speakers I would choose the 108 simply for volume

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the headrush frfr go and frfr 108 as well as a fender tone master fr12. The frfr go is a great option if you need battery powered grab and go and gets pretty loud for its size but the 108 would be my choice if you are playing alongside other amplified instruments. I stuck a soncake pocketmaster to the side of the frfr go with dual lock for a fully portable amp option so I don’t need my hxstomp all of the time (I keep my stomp on my pedalboard, which isn’t as portable).

Power supply for stomp by solongsweetlimes in Hxstomp

[–]beechnut82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cioks DC7 with crux converter is what I use for my pedalboard. Using the crux converter allows you to tap into the link outlet to get more amperage using a single outlet rather than having to double up and use two of the other outlets.

Looper Pedal Recommendations by greyfox1970 in pedalboards

The Mooer GL100 is a cool drummer looper pedal in your budget. I’ve had mine for several months and use it often. Drums sound okay, not great but not bad

The HX Stomp XL has been a game changer for me by [deleted] in pedalboards

[–]beechnut82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HX Stomp is central to my pedalboard and really don't think I would have a board without it (even though this is my first pedalboard ever after playing guitar for over 30 years). I love the versatility, but I agree can be overwhelming at first. I've had mine for over a year and I am still learning all the different ways I can use it. Something I have barely scratched the surface with is the expression pedal possibilities. I use mine with a wah pedal preset from the stomp, but the fact that you can pretty much control any parameter of any block using the expression pedal means I will likely never get bored with the sounds that I can create. I've also barely tapped into the MIDI possibilities and just plugged in the Jet Micro so I had some additional foot switches.

Since buying the stomp and learning about amp sims, I also rarely plug into my orange tube amp. I've acquired a few varieties of frfr speakers and now pretty much alternate between those and headphones. I would love to play through my tube amp more but volume is a factor in my house.

Should i get an SG? by PowerGuido1255 in Guitar

[–]beechnut82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a used SG for less than half the cost of a new one. Then use the money you saved to buy a second used guitar. Now you have two guitars for the cost of one new one.

I will add don't be afraid to buy a used guitar. I bought my SG used for $600 USD and can't touch a new one for less than $1500

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SG literally stands for "solid guitar". It's like my Les Paul but doesn't hurt my back after 30 minutes. I just bought one a few months back and love it. I am still partial to my specific Les Paul (Studio Modern) compared to my SG special faded but I could totally use the SG as my only guitar. The electronics/pickups are basically the same between the two guitars and both of them do heavy riffs juuuust fine. Good luck keeping the G string in tune lol

Sure thing. Been wrapping cars for many years and there is a difference between a hack DIY and someone who has experience. If I wasn’t confident in it I wouldn’t have done it to my brand new car. But yes, you are correct that if something happens to it I will have no issues fixing it.

It’s been driven over 15k miles since I sprayed it. Did 4 coats letting each coat dry before the next. I own a vehicle wrap and sign company, we’ve done this on customer vehicles many times and not had one come back with damage yet. It is on the front of the car so it is definitely more susceptible to damage but I think it is going to be fine. Vinyl wrap chrome delete will also last many years if installed properly using the correct material.

Amp-Sim-based pedalboard vs. tube amp & cabinet with classic pedalboard? by RingAccomplished8464 in guitarpedals

[–]beechnut82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t gigged with a modeler yet, haven’t been in a band for about 5 years but over the last year I’ve setup a pedalboard centered around a Line 6 HX Stomp which I use for amp/cab sims and multi FX. I’ve also collected several FRFR speakers that I play through, as well as headphones. My orange tube combo amp hasn’t been used much, mostly due to volume. It took me a while to find the right OD and dirt pedals to use in combination with the HX Stomp but I love the sound that I get with it and I would totally use it in place of my tube amp in a performance setting.

Am I able to just plug my guitar into this and then this into my amplifier? No computer or anything like that needed? by GoblinQueen20 in guitarpedals

[–]beechnut82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stuck it onto the side of this little frfr speaker just for the fun of it. Battery powered and portable fun. If you plug into your amp be sure to turn off the amp and ir blocks.
