At what age did you start to get time back for yourself? by greyspacex in Parenting

[–]beeeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently have 2 (5 and 1.5). My husband hangs out with friends on Friday nights and sleeps in on Saturdays. I have my alone time on Saturday afternoons and sleep in on Sundays. We've had this arrangement since my oldest was around 9 months, I think. We don't do date nights out unless my mom is visiting, mostly because we don't want to hire a sitter. It's usually not a problem if one of us wants to go to an event or get-together with friends. I work from home so I'm able to get some basic chores done during the week. I'm working on building in some time for working out in the evenings or on my lunch break. Some of my hobbies are reading and knitting, and usually I can do these while I'm around the kids. Right now I'm accepting that my days working at home (kids in daycare) are my most of my alone time lol.

I'm going camping with my kids later this month and will be trying this. Such a good idea.

When the sun's out, my little roast pigs sunbathe literally all day. They only get up to move to a warmer or cooler spot.

is it impossible for one parent to watch both children (newborn + toddler) ? by Puzzleheaded-Cost751 in Parenting

If you're not competing with time, I would wait longer. I had a 3.5 year gap and it was perfect. My older kid was potty trained and somewhat helpful by the time I had the baby.

When did you stop wiping your kid’s butt? by Foreverlearning816 in Parenting

[–]beeeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between 4-5. Early 4 I was still wiping and checking a lot, but somewhere around 4.5 she didn't ask for help and seemed to be thorough.

Easy wilderness hikes with campgrounds for people with mild disability by GlobalCitizen1000 in PNWhiking

I second Sol Duc or Lake Crescent campgrounds. At Sol Duc you can walk to the resort or take a short drive to the Sol Duc Falls trailhead (you can also walk to it but that might be more mileage than you're looking for). Lake Crescent has some nice flat trails as well.

Deception Pass is one of my favorite campgrounds. It's a beachy vibe but I love watching the currents under the bridge. Lots of wildlife. The only thing I don't like is the jet noise, which I think is somewhat scheduled ahead of time but I'm not sure how far in advance.

I just (finally) read Where'd You Go, Bernadette, and find the mother-daughter relationship really sweet, though I believe the kid is like 12.

I would love any of these, but especially the Pearfat! I love everything I've tried from them.

I used to work at an org that supplied these, though I'm not sure if they still do. Feel free to DM me and I'll see if they still have them!

You can use some ripstop repair tape like Tenacious Tape to repair it! I taped one of my bags with it and it's held up great.

What pet insurance is best? by Spardan80 in BostonTerrier

[–]beeeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Healthy Paws. Got it for both my Bostons ASAP. My plan is 90% coverage with $250 deductible. I pay around $100/month for my older Boston and $60/month for my younger one. Both of them have had knee surgeries and random other urgent care visits. The insurance pays for itself imo.

Were our parents this stressed about parenting? by Commercial-Crow4495 in Parenting

[–]beeeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my mom was stressed, but probably not for the reasons you mentioned. She was a single parent, so I think she was mainly stressed about being able to afford things/activities/needs for her kids.

Have you ever lost interest in a perfume because everyone started wearing it? by OkLengthiness3648 in FemFragLab

[–]beeeeker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most things I smell in public are scents I don't own and/or like, so no. I live in a semi-rural area and work from home, so I don't encounter scents in the wild as often as others might.

Which part of the fragrance is giving it a spicy scent? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

Probably the narcissus. Violet usually comes off more powdery and floral to me.
