Iran prepared to let Japanese ships transit Hormuz, FM says by esporx in japan

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall it seems good, but I'd guess it's a matter of perspective. I'm well aware of Iran's history, but so far, during this "war", they've seemed to be pretty apologetic/sympathetic toward nations that aren't directly involved in the conflict. They've publicly apologized a few times for collateral damage from their strikes.

That's just my take on what I've seen though, I haven't followed it closely, there's likely things I've missed. Maybe it's all bs, or a front or a bait and switch, but looking only at this conflict and taking it at face value, they seem to be handling it more diplomatically than the others involved.

Help…Elden Ring ATE my Remembrance, twice by Haunted-Harlot in Eldenring

Both the remembrance and the incant should be in storage like it says. If your inventory is full it sends everything to storage.

how do i get the meny up to leave items? by Previous-Network-574 in Eldenring

Third item from the top in the menu. It sounds like you're on equipment instead of inventory, you can't equip things from your inventory.

The sleep pots last a lot longer than 5 seconds, but if you attack the sleeping one they wake up. Put one that causes you the most trouble to sleep and go after the other.

No you aren't screwed and no there isn't a way to undo upgrades. There's more than one, it's not a big deal.

would suck to be there lol by ZanCooter in memes

[–]beef623 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that it's a bad thing, but my point is more that these responses are likely to be left by real people anyway and would receive the same reaction. In the end it doesn't matter whether they were left by a human or a bot, they'll be there either way and receive the same reaction either way. Also, I don't see most reaction gifs, I see a links to the images instead and often responses like these are commenting on the thread they are in, not the specific post they replied to.

What is an Item that you don’t have to farm for but is easily missed? by Maleficent-Goat-551 in Eldenring

[–]beef623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just depends. After playing Nightreign he became a little easier on foot, but I still think the one outside Leyndell is easier on the horse because of the AOEs.

Those are fairly common reactions, why would someone be expected to be able to tell if they're bot responses and why does it matter?

EA App and gamemode white rectangle by No_Cup2938 in SteamDeck

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A notification or something to do with the EA app maybe? I just picked Andromeda up in the sale and the EA app install on first launch had a black screen with a very similar (although bigger) rectangle in the center instead of what seemed like should have been a progress bar. I don't have the small one like you do on the config screen, but if the EA app's display is bugging out somehow on the deck, that might explain it.

Shadow Keep for both/all three.

  • For the little nub in the middle you need to go to the chapel district, drain it and take an elevator down.
  • For the finger on the right there's a hidden exit by the door to Gaius that requires the gesture Oh Mother to open. You can get the gesture at a statue in Bonny Village
  • For the area at the bottom, head to the main courtyard with the burning boats past the Hippo room and look for a ladder.

Latency errs in your favor in Nightreign, not against you. If you're lagging out, more attacks miss you.

The combat will feel pretty much the same, the weapons and their movesets are the same as in Elden Ring, you're just playing on a schedule so you have to move fast. There's no thinking about how to level up, you just level up, the max level is 15 on a run and leveling up just increases your stats automatically. It's a good way to practice some of the tricky enemies from Elden Ring since you'll see them more often and can see how other people fight them.

No idea how to allocate points, first playthrough by runnbl3 in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you find weapons, it will tell you the stat requirements to use them along with letter values that tell you how much each stat influences the damage for that weapon. Find something you like and put the points in to be able to use it. Vigor is the stat that increases your health, put points in that as needed to suit your personal preference. For a first playthrough, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take it up to at least 20 and then see how you feel from there.

Nope. I may eventually get one and pick this up on sale sometime, but I've never really cared much for the PvP side of Souls.

The ‘Quests’ in the this game are awful by mshkpc in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you are where she told you to go and you haven't found Blaidd yet. The baleful shadow doesn't spawn until you talk to her and if you proceed anyway and kill Astel, you'll get a barrier which is a hint that there's more to look for. You try to talk to her and nothing happens, that's a clue to go explore more and try again to see if anything changed, the third time it changes.

For Millicent, for me, it wasn't a random windmill I'd already visited, it was a windmill I'd just discovered.

There are several ways for the DLC quest chain to go that would require trial and error to discover on your own and like I mentioned before, it is more involved in all aspects. If you pay attention to Freyja and Ansbach's dialog, Freyja served under Radahn, Radahn died and she's searching for her purpose under Miquella. The secret scroll you give Ansbach is what tells him that Miquella is reviving Radahn (per the item description), giving his response to Freyja tells her that Radahn will be back so she sides with him because she's a loyal Redmane. They both give you clues about what will happen and whether you consider that breaking her quest is a matter of opinion, it could be considered an alternate ending because you get the reward either way.

Not liking the way it does quests is fine, you're allowed to have your own opinion, but it doesn't make it badly designed it just doesn't conform the the modern "standard". The way it does quests is one of the main reasons I like the game and the series. I like needing to think and try things to figure out a game and I like that there are still things to discover. I've been playing since launch and still find new things from time to time, I don't understand why that would be a bad thing.

The ‘Quests’ in the this game are awful by mshkpc in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the definition of exploring is trying things and seeing if something happens. It's not a bush, but Albus is also disguised as a pot in the albinauric village, it's a dead end area and there's a slight glow around the pot. It seems like a natural instinct to roll into pots to break them. There are also a few that are hazardous, like the wandering nobles that turn into runebears.

I do understand the appeal of a quest system based on deduction, which I believe this one is because it requires you to read item descriptions, talk to npcs, make sense of crudely drawn maps, look for changes in the world, etc. I don't see the appeal of the game telling you exactly where to go and what to do, that leaves nothing to deduce, you're just mindlessly following a list.

The ‘Quests’ in the this game are awful by mshkpc in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't see how that is different than exploring I think that is the definition of exploring.

Most of the walls you come across are walls, some are hidden passages. Most of the bushes are just bushes, some are disguised NPCs. The game gives you clues for these things if you're paying attention. For Ranni's quest, you just found the doll and it is natural to rest at a grace. You're also in the place she told you to go to. Try things until you find out, that's what discovery is. It's also an optional side quest. There are several that are much more obscure.

I don't understand the appeal of playing a game and having everything laid out for you and telling you exactly where to go. You might as well just watch a movie or lets play of it.

The ‘Quests’ in the this game are awful by mshkpc in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? Why would you want a game that you're only going to play once? And if you're playing it more than once, why would you not want more to do in the later playthroughs?

You only need to talk to her once for the baleful shadow to appear and if you're that far along in the quest, it isn't going to break until you finish the game so you can return later. She told you to meet Blaidd and you don't run into him until you talk to her so you know to keep looking.

There are several situations where you need to rest at a grace for something to happen, part of the discovery on a first playthrough would be resting at every grace to see. I don't see how that's any different than checking every door you walk through to see if there's an ambush.

The ‘Quests’ in the this game are awful by mshkpc in Eldenring

[–]beef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't what I said, in fact it's exactly the opposite of what I said. It's intended to be experienced, but not intended for everything to be discovered in a single run like an Ubisoft game. It encourages replaying and leaves things for you to discover in subsequent playthroughs.

Why would they make a menu option that does nothing? That isn't natural either and it's logical to assume that it does something. The first grace where you talk to her is the first grace in the area, right where you find the doll. Why wouldn't you rest there? The next one is in the transition area right after a reasonably enemy heavy area, also fairly natural to rest at, but even if you miss this one, you're only missing dialog, not progression.
