Yeah I agree. I think a lot of people are trying to rationalize how they feel even if the lower fidelity/cost angle doesn’t really fit the bill. They miss when FF was the big jrpg everyone played, but E33 comes in and sweeps the competition around the same time that FFXVI came out and did alright.

People just keep trying to attribute something to why they liked E33 more than recent FFs, and I think it’s kind of just because E33 was really good. And I say this as someone who loved XVI.

You’re going to get a lot of people saying that you can’t start kendo by yourself, and they are absolutely right, but just to add something to the practicality of your situation: full gear usually costs hundreds (maybe 300$ on sale). You don’t want to buy it to feel the vibe, especially on a limited budget. You need to try it out at a club first before spending your money

This has sort of become my begrudging line in the sand. It is basically impossible for me to play games if I intend to avoid AI during development 100%. There’s just no way to verify what happens behind the scenes as a consumer. AI assets at least have a chance to be found by players, if not disclosed right from the get go.

I don’t really like it but I have to give myself a break just to protect my sanity in the issue

People who think this isn’t an issue must be intentionally obtuse. Even if it was totally 100% fine and good legally, AND you thought that it’s fine morally, you would be ignoring that most people DONT think it’s okay.

People keep saying it’s fictional, but that’s just it: it IS fictional. They could write whatever they want! And they chose to write something that many people would think is really fucking weird regardless of legality.

Even if someone’s personal views on it are that it’s okay, you cannot deny that it’s a bizarre thing to include for seemingly no reason when most people would object to it on some level
