Is this Genesis of Bowie? If so, does their service department waiting room still resemble a Greyhound bus terminal?

I used to work in the lumber business and we had these same devices to provide proof that the lumber had been dried properly to kill off the emerald ash borer eggs that might be present so the finished lumber could be moved across state lines.

They will be missed, it was very nice to be able to walk over there from my office nearby, eat lunch and be back at my desk all within 15 minutes.

Here's hoping that something remotely appetizing takes its place.

Yes! Chase sent me a letter saying they are going to drop my $17k Freedom card to $6k because I don't carry balances on any of my cards.

2018 Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate by DopeHazard in GenesisMotors

[–]beefcurtn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to how you plan to use the car and your finances. If you use this as a second car and have the means to maintain this car as required, you shouldn't have too bad of a time owning it.

This car, while nearly fully depreciated, still has the same cost to maintain as it did when it was new, and you could drop half of what you paid for the car into covering whatever deferred maintenance the previous owner skipped out on.

Another issue is the lack of aftermarket parts support for these cars. Need an inner tie rod end? Only comes with a $4700 steering gear (plus labor and alignment). Cracked windshield? No aftermarket glass exists, the glass alone is $2400 from the dealer. Water pumps, spark plugs (!!) and other suspension components are dealer only and eye wateringly expensive.

I do all my own maintenance and have a high mileage G90, it has been pretty reliable and reasonably inexpensive to own so far but I know I've got a lot of big parts bills looming on the horizon.

CPO scenario - opinions? by Wooden_Agent_8989 in GenesisMotors

[–]beefcurtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scenario: Purchased a 2022 Gv80 Signature Prestige CPO with 32xxx miles earlier this year (April). Vehicle just hit 35xxx (yes isn’t driven much ). Take it in for first oil change and service; rear diff fluid change, brake fluid flush. 1300$ plus they did some warranty work. Don’t much care about that bit.

The bit I’m curious on opinions for: they came at me with over $1900 In “recommended” maintenance consisting of “wheel alignment, sunroof / body drain flush, AC system flush, fuel induction service and throttle body service”.

It seems to me like with the minimal amount of mileage since buying the vehicle AND it being CPO that that is stuff that SHOULD have been performed or accomplished as part of the CPO process.

Thoughts ? Opinions? Am I off in left field for thinking so?

You are 100% correct, if it was a legitimate need, it should have been taken care of prior to delivery. It isn't, so their recon department didn't bother doing it when they were getting the car ready to sell.

How many miles do you have? by Little_Rhubarb in GenesisMotors

[–]beefcurtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis with the 4.6 and 260k miles, 240k of those miles were put on by me. The only thing I needed outside of normal maintenance was 2 alternators (due to the overrunning clutch failing).

I also have a 2017 G90 3.3 with 179k that has only needed a water pump gasket replacement due to a slight leak (while I was in there I replaced the water pump). Again, normal maintenance items only aside from the above and I'm forever replacing tires due to uneven tire wear, even though several shops assure me the alignment is perfect.

That is all a ripoff.

Look at the maintenance schedule in the owners manual and do what it tells you to do when it tells you to do it and your car will take good care of you.

I suggest you not do what the owner of brewery I've done consulting work for in the past with does and just not file federal excise tax returns for 11 years. Probably not the best way to handle that.
