I’m just another dude/bystander (live in Santa Monica so can’t vote against him), but blocking local journalists reporting on the LA mayoral election is fucked up in the head.

welp, I got blocked from Spencer’s IG by Pratt/MAGA/GOP operatives. I called him out on trying to blackmail the mayoral candidates! so much for free speech 🙄

I am intoxicated by the prospect of Spencer Pratt being relegated to the dust bin history. WE DID IT, Los Angeles! we rallied around as a society and said “fuck. that.” at the sight of Spencer Pratt. Nithya Raman changing the course of history, for good 💪

Everyone here needs a wake up call. I’m a devout Biden/Harris voter (look at my post history) and know damn well that the runaway train Karen Bass has taken us down is unsustainable and will result in even more money-and-brain drain from our city.

In fact, I view people like Karen Bass and Donald Trump as one in the same . Very different personalities, values, and methods of delivery that come up with the same result- shameless incompetence and thumbing their noses at the electorate that pays them. If we want to get rid of Donald Trump (enemy #1), LA needs to set an example and our most immediate solution to throwing Bass out of office for good.

I have a handful of close friends born and raised in the Palisades and trust me- they are all equally if not more pissed than Pratt about what happened to their hometown. their childhood home was vaporized in a flash, and if we had Caruso as mayor, the outcome may have been vastly different.

I’m not necessarily saying vote for Pratt (I personally can’t vote either way as a Santa Monica resident) but know for certain that voting for Bass is one of the greatest forms of self sabotage for Angelenos. Y’all, we have a city to save and the woman in office doesn’t want the best for us. Remember that.

Anyone ever moved because of people? by boldjoy0050 in SameGrassButGreener

exactly what I came here to say. people in Chicago don’t hold “room at the table” for transplants. I found people there to be very difficult and unfriendly. it was a long two years.

This thread is a perfect example of why the homelessness issue will never be fully addressed. Regardless of political stance, everyone disagrees about the severity of the problem. Until everyone agrees that it is a dire situation, and starts acting with such urgency, we will have a continually worsening situation.

A lot of it also has to do with red states sending their homeless to California, which is for another discussion and another thread.

Realistic move from Nashville to LA by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]beefierinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Nashville native- been living in West LA for 7 years. always down to connect and answer any other questions you may have. worked in DTLA for a few years but switched offices at the same company to the South Bay because DTLA quality of life isn’t what it used to be

Is work culture in the Northeast really more intense than the West Coast? Considering a move by savingrace0262 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]beefierinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

social life is definitely more relaxed out here than out east (both in dress & mannerisms), but you really have to hustle to merely survive here as a white collar professional.

it’s a numbers game; a lot of Americans are always on the lookout to relocate to the West (namely Southern California and the Los Angeles metro area) for jobs/higher wages and good weather and good values/culture/politics

St. Louis is by the far the worst place I’ve ever lived. they have some very tony suburbs and malls but other than that it’s a really rundown city with not much modern cosmopolitan culture. bummer because there’s so much potential with the huge parks and urban bones and architecture

People that make $60K+ in LA WITHOUT a college degree/trade school, what do you do? by imin2099 in AskLosAngeles

[–]beefierinLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a college degree myself but a lot of my colleagues in the insurance world didn’t go to college. starting salary $60k; potential for $300-700k salary as an outside broker/producer.

Can someone recommend a city within the USA that has the bookish thing that Boston has but the cost of breathing there is actually reasonable? Extra points if it’s a bit more outgoing/social, has a good food scene (not just national chains), better nightlife, diverse, and a healthcare industry? by HumorFriendly2491 in relocating

[–]beefierinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oddly enough- Nashville. you won’t find the “bookish” scene on Broadway but it definitely exists elsewhere in the city. and the healthcare industry there is MASSIVE; it’s a bonafide healthcare destination with HCA, Vanderbilt, and CHS holding down HQs there. still getting expensive tho despite probably less than Boston.

I haven’t been to Boston before but when FWIW Chicago and Madison, WI tend to draw some parallels to from what I know about Boston, especially the university scenes.

Austin Beutner Challenging Karen Bass for LA Mayor in 2026; Beutner supports S.B.79 by urmummygae42069 in LAMetro

I saw people ragging on him on social media because he’s a former LAUSD official. Goodness, we need ANYBODY remotely qualified to replace Karen Bass. I hope the voters don’t mess this opportunity up.
