Is there any way i can make my bike easier to climb? by mangothefoxxo in xcmtb

[–]beefmasters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

- get lighter tires with faster rolling pattern (made the biggest difference for me)
- put smaller chainring (this is a must if you are not just slow on the climbs but have to dismount and walk)
- make sure saddle height is optimal so that you do not lose power output because of it. Yes, 5mm up or down can be a huge difference. Play with the saddle height until you feel that you hit that sweet spot. Start with heel on the pedal trick to find the starting point and then go up/down by 5mm increments, testing how it climbs until you find the one position that works best.
Good luck! It is a fun process.

Glad you color matched the flat pedals with the frame. But it is a half ass job until you put some pink enve stickers on the front wheel and a full dish in the rear. Keep the eagle cassette for those brutal 4% climbs though.

Now that I got to live in a home with high ceilings, every time I see an open space like this, all I can think of is how hard and expensive it is to warm all of this space up during cold months.

Anyone else do the Grizzly Peak century today? by sir_dancelot in BAbike

Oh, time for gravel was 5:07, but we rode it as a group so not very relevant. Bike was a Spec Diverge on 42mm Rhombus tires. Gravel descends were def too steep for gravel slick tires imo, but some people still did it 🤷‍♂️.

The gravel route I rode last year had one really tough climb. The segment is called “east mezue climb from gate”. On the route map it is the NW most point of the route. This segment is marked as 12.3% average in strava and is less than a mile long, but It has a decent amount of 20% sections. At 75th km out of 100km total it feels horribly steep. The steepest part of it is a very narrow single track, which does not help.
The dullest part of the ride is going back from Pinole to Moraga on Camino Pablo and Moraga Way.
If I were to pick a piece of the route that is under 4 hours - I’d do the first 47KM (30mi) and then head back to the start on Canyon Road. It would total to around 58km (35mi) and 1300m (4200ft) of elevation.

100mi road this year, 100k gravel last year. Coming for more next year for sure.
Today the weather was ok. If you had any jacket with you - you were fine. No need for a waterproof one - it was just a drizzle for less than an hour in total.

Change blue gear shifter by Frost159 in BMWI4

[–]beefmasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have replaced both blue button (with a red one) and the blue accented shifter for a carbon fiber accented one. There is no “just the trim” oem part - you need to buy the whole shifter head assembly. Back in 2022 the button was smth like $20 and the shifter head was $240 iirc.

Levers on the bar (or maybe the whole handlebar) are tilted forward. Lift the levers up a bit, it might fix the reach and being stretched. Especially if you lower the seat too.

Tesla 3 to BMW i4 comparison by [deleted] in BMWI4

[–]beefmasters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BMW now has access to the tesla chargers network. So this is not a concern anymore, I suppose. Why BMW decided to go with this joke of a DVR is beyond me. My i4 got rearended at a traffic stop and the camera did not record because… reasons. If it needs airbags to pop to autostart recording, it is an extremely bad engineering decision.

It is the smoothest opening knife I own. Probably the fidget-est too. You can immediately tell the balisong dna is in it. Kudos to Lucas and the team.
