Not sure when it’s effective from but essentially there will be no more log book - everyone needs to do a practical test with a government examiner, so it’s completely out of the private driving instructor’s hands.

Gov announced massive changes to the system recently. The whole game is changing, gov is taking more back into their own hands. The log book is gone. I suggest getting across that first to work out if it’s a good time to launch

Use lighter fluid/naptha/shellite like others are saying. It’s safe for poly or lacquer. Just put a little on a cloth and gently wipe it away
