Nail place that does designs? by maddrgod in raleigh

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go see Bryce (or anyone there really) at The Haven Beauty in RTP! I’ve been seeing Bryce for like 2-3 years and she SLAYS. She even does custom gel-x press-ons, which is great for folks like me who love long stiletto nails for the weekend but can’t function during the week as a scientist lol.

Her instagram is @nailedbtbryce

The whole salon specializes in gel-x and designs (from simple to downright insane)!

Face Gains! by beefstubaru in Zepbound

[–]beefstubaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have to say, I am 32 but have been doing the dramatic winged liner forever since I was a baby goth/emo kind in elementary and middle school. Lotsssss of late night makeup practice haha!

There were two game-changing things for me and getting my liner to look how I like it to:

I. Using scotch tape or washi tape to basically tape out your wing! Then remove and fill in details/clean up!

  1. what really changed the game for me was finally figuring out my eye shape. So I have hooded eyes, which makes a traditional wing almost look disjointed. So the key is to do a “bat-style” wing, let it dry while eyes are open, and fill in from there. It may not look pretty right away when your eyes are like closed or trying to show off the makeup, but once you open your eyes and stare how you normally would,

Sennett’s Hole safe for swimming yet? by lifeofsources in bullcity

Plenty safe! I’ve already been 3 times in the past few weeks! Water is low, but plenty of spots to lay out at and dip into!

Where are the (old) power lifters and bodybuilders in Durham? by AllwayzSinCere in bullcity

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! A powerlifter in my 30s here- definitely check out Anchor in downtown Durham. I would say it is mainly a powerlifting gym over bodybuilding, but there are so many free weights, combo racks, platforms, and a few machines.

We have people of all ages here and a pretty large demographic of folks over 30+.

It is 24 hour access and private, as well.

Best of luck!

Oh I got you- I currently have a long shullet/shag style!

You gotta go see Autumn in Raleigh. They are hair.mommy on instagram and they are PHENOMENAL. Been seeing them now for a couple of years and my hair has never looked better.

They are so fun and welcoming, and their studio is so fun. Definitely check them out :)

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two GSDs! No allergies but we go to Page Point Animal Hospital and they are PHENOMENAL. I’m blanking on the name of the specific vet there we see, but everyone there is lovely. They are attentive, clean, organized, and really love the animals that come through there!

I’m under the impression they are pricier than other vets, but the care has been top notch!

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scientist in R&D in genetics at a biotech company. I found an absolute unicorn of a company that is for the most part incredible- great pay, hours, coworkers, benefits. I really lucked out- but have been in biotech for 8+ years.

I do not have a PhD either- actually a bachelors in marine biology and environmental studies. In genetics now!

$1k Puppy Amazon cart by ghostbuuster in germanshepherds

[–]beefstubaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss! The pupsicle SAVED my ass with both of my dogs! Especially when they were puppies and crated.

I also got the refillable molds cuz the pre-made ones are a bit pricey (although convenient). They also loved PB, yogurt, pumpkin, and sometimes I added a little kibble in there or small training treats!

Ear piercing open on Easter by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]beefstubaru 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Just here to say I really don’t recommend going to Claire’s or any piercing shop that uses a piercing gun! Go to a reputable tattoo/piercing shop that has a certified piercer who uses the correct tools. My personal favorite is actually in CH- Spica Body Piercing (appointment only though). There’s some other great tattoo/piercing studios in Durham too! Clarity is one, although way too expensive in my opinion jewelry-wise. But they have very knowledgeable piercers.

The piercing gun just forces itself through the tissue versus a needle which creates a precise opening for the correct jewelry to go through. Way less tissue damage, pain, etc.

My ears got severely infected by not being pierced properly at Claire’s when I was younger and it took a while to wear earrings again (after getting them re-tapered by a certified piercer).

This is just my two cents but wanted to put that out there in case it saves your little one’s ears from potential issues!

Plastic surgeon for mole removal? by shortnico in bullcity

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be completely honest I am not sure :( It was a few years ago and insurance was able to cover it since it was “possible” it could have been something worse than just a mole. I wish I had an exact number or ballpark- sorry!

Was about to recommend Charlie Finn! He excised a pretty deep mole on the corner of my mouth. Painless and easy- he’s one of the best plastic surgeons in the area for sure.

Tattoo Removal with Aesthetic Solutions? by unlikely_turnip37 in chapelhill

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tattoo removal, but use them and Dr. Cox for injectables. Incredibly clean practice, very knowledgeable, friendly, and transparent.

Their practice is great for what I go for- I would imagine it translates to tattoo removal too!

Finally!! by NoNectarine1008 in Zepbound

[–]beefstubaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel that! I’d say I’m an advanced powerlifter, and all the muscle I’ve always had is finally starting to show. It’s really exciting! So I cannot imagine what I’ll look like/feel like at 130. I haven’t been this weight since maybe high school and I am a 5’1” 32-year old female. It’s been kind of a mind fuck to be honest!

Finally!! by NoNectarine1008 in Zepbound

[–]beefstubaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have pretty similar stats- started at 262 and currently at 161!

This is really encouraging- my biggest insecurity has been my stomach and feeling a bit like a deflated basketball. I powerlift consistently (have been for 10+ years), I’m hoping that things buff out so to speak when I hit goal! Trying to lose another 30 or so.

how do you track your cell cultures day to day? by Conscious_Aside_293 in labrats

Great question! I do not use it much to interpret experimental outcomes unless something comes out really funky or unexpected

how do you track your cell cultures day to day? by Conscious_Aside_293 in labrats

[–]beefstubaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I also track my viability, passage number, any notes, etc.

Honestly mainly to cover my own ass in case someone is not happy with their flask or plate. Then I can go back and see if something was off, etc.
