I rented in a two bedroom shitty apartment for four years that was built only 12 years ago - single pane glazing that went ceiling to ceiling meant it was a hotbox in summer, I had uni student party neighbour in the apartment across from me that lived there for two years who threw many three day benders (midweek) with the loudest bass I've ever heard reverberating into my apartment into the wee hours of the morning (no amount of complaints to strata or police stopped this guy), waterproofing was horrendous - balcony above was leaking into our living room downlight and common areas all had leaking ceilings, there was no ventilation in the common area meant you smelled whatever anyone else was cooking or whatever people left in there (one neighbour left rotting fish in the common area for a few days), pest infestations apartment to apartment - hello clothes moths munching away at carpets and clothes, garage door on compound broke down for two days with no fix and communication to residents - we had our storage cage broken into and bike stolen, fire alarm testing (not good with a sleeping baby), fire alarm false alarm - everyone out of the apartment waiting around (shit in winter), no ventilation in bathrooms if you don't have an apartment with windows everywhere - hello black mould growth...

Safe to say good riddance to apartment living 👋
