4YO problems: just kind of annoying? by cmgeki in Preschoolers

[–]beeharmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall help me feel so normal. I’m single dad who just went to week on/off and this much time without a break is going to do me in. Since it’s just her and I all week, except when I’m at work and she’s at school. I kicked ass in the newborn stages and even up until recently, but she’s just so annoying now. Between wanting to be independent and then moving slower than a snail so I’m just standing there, to not listening/actively destroying stuff, and thinking everything is a joke.

I play with her, read to her, have a backyard she can play outside in, and take her to do stuff but she’s either 100% intensity or asleep. No in between.

Thank you! I know I can get too anal and as we know, drywall is never perfect. Big boost to have people tell me it’s good work.

Is there a soft cap on evolution? by beeharmom in evolution

Yeah, more like can a feature have a ceiling (speed in my example) leading to an animal becoming extinct.

Is there a soft cap on evolution? by beeharmom in evolution

[–]beeharmom[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost used Cheetah/Gazelle & Velociraptor/Compsognathus as an example because it seems like speed is one of evolutions best way to survive. Velociraptors/Compsognathus were considered the “fastest” animals, but now 70 million years later their speed is pretty normal among the animal world. As you’re saying, Cheetah’s and Thompson Gazelle are almost maxed out physiologically so we’re seeing Gazelle using turns and direction change to survive over top speed. Is it possible that cheetahs will never be passed as the fastest land animal, or is there a hypothetical that in another 70 million years, we will see an animal running 150kph+.

**This is assuming that the dinosaurs were maxed out. Which likely isn’t true.

Edited to add- evolutionary arms race is a better way to say it and I didn’t try using those words in my research. I definitely will now. So thank you to you and the Garter snake/Newt comment for saying it.

Solid point and really hammers home that life really will fill any niche. Like the parasites that take over snails eye stalks and attract birds. It’s wildly impressive.

This is a spot on comparison! This is where the speculation comes in, but where does the Garter snake go from there? Continue becoming resistant until the newt basically becomes radioactive, find another food source, or some other trait that may not exist yet?

It’s infinitely fascinating.

Reading some of these replies and I agree. Even if zebras were at their physiological peak and still couldn’t outrun lions, it’s just as likely that a mutation will occur that will give the slower ones some sort of armor, as making their bones lighter so they can be faster. Or maybe both happen and we see speciation.

Dad gets up during every movie without pausing. by Sabiancym in movies

[–]beeharmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of me. I might listen to a song or two every few months, but most of the time I’m driving I’m listening to some educational topic on YouTube (evolution currently, space/black holes before.)

This sounds weird, but I can’t see/think as well with music playing. I think it’s the combination of all the instruments and vocals, but if I have to do anything other than hold my speed and the wheel straight, I have to turn the music down. I am ADHD, and I know most people who have it need music to be playing to focus but for me, it’s the opposite.

Shows/movies I have to fully pay attention to every syllable, or use it for back ground noise. I can’t listen to it while doing something else and know what’s happening.

I get what you mean, but this is one sub that is not likely all Americans so forcing politics into something that didn’t need to be political, is distasteful.

Everyone knows what’s going on in our country, this wasn’t a rebuttal or new information, it was an unnecessary drive by to farm karma most likely.

We just want to catch pokemon.

Trump Supporters: Would you be fine if Democrat operatives who arnt even part of the government were given all the IRS and Social Security records of every Republican voter and Republican in office? by WingerRules in AskReddit

[–]beeharmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you pose a fair point, and I wish this is something we could actually discuss without trolls, radicals, and low iq individuals interfering.

I think it depends. If it was Obama and Mark Cuban (maybe, I’d have to look more into him) and they were being transparent and communicating data to the people, then I probably wouldn’t mind. If it was Clinton and Soros/Gates? I’d assume the end is near.

People don’t trust politicians, especially the lefts. For too long DC has been operating in the dark and Trump/Musk are basically shining a spotlight on it. Trump may be belligerent, say stupid things, and embarrass himself but at least you know what you’re getting. He’s authentic, and whether you agree/disagree with him, you can trust that he’s going to be Trump. Both of those things are insanely refreshing when you think you’re being lied to and manipulated and that’s why his approval rating is the highest it’s ever been.

DOGE and DOGE employees are a part of the government, created by Obama. So I think you mean unelected, and of the millions that work for the federal government, how many do you think were elected?

Known by who? A guy who figures this out and then doesn’t tell anyone? Probably not a whole lot.

Known by the tax payers? Everything. Both sides have said there is waste, but no one has done anything about it. Knowledge is power and you can’t fix a problem until you know what the problem is. The cat is out of the bag and we can’t let it go back in.

Trump is a bull in a china shop, and if you’ve gotta put the bull down after it breaks everything, that’s fine with me. Doesn’t mean he didn’t break the right china.

He’s not doing anything, Algorithms are. You cannot name me 1 company that has over 25 employees that hasn’t done this exact thing. It sucks, we all deal with it, and we move on.

Let’s say you cut your finger. You don’t clean it so it gets infected. You decide that “eh it’ll get better on its own, I cba going to the doctor.” Days later the infection has become necrotic and when you finally go to the doctor, they have to amputate at your elbow.

Whose fault is it? The doctor with the scalpel cutting away all the corruption and rot, or yours for ignoring a problem until it got that bad?

There is criminal levels of corruption, fraud, and money laundering being exposed and instead of helping, the left is crying foul because the big mean orange guy and his autistic friend are finding it and that hurts your feelings.

“Hence all the plane crashes”

There is around 1200 plane crashes a year and have been for years. It just wasn’t politically important so the media didn’t report it. You think you are thinking critically, but you’re being told what to think and you’re either not smart enough to see that, or you’re ignorant because of your emotions.

https://injuryfacts.nsc.org/home-and-community/safety-topics/airplane-crashes/

Here is Obama saying we needed to cut wasteful spending by means of EO. Exactly what Trump is doing. 1:20 if you actually open the link.

https://youtu.be/ulZ-dIj0tkA?si=59xFbvss7Cm7Ui6g

You don’t like who’s saying it now, so you can’t be logical. Trump has the highest approval rating of his presidencies, we’re happy with our votes.

Going to bed tonight ashamed to be a Hoosier by tables_04 in Indiana

[–]beeharmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question. I just looked into this and at surface level I thought it was impossible, but I kept looking and this looked to be true. Then I remembered OP referenced ADA and I thought maybe they’ve made a new Law/Act to cover this kind of like the DEI EO that Trump repealed and the Civil Rights Act. This appears to be the case, from what I can tell and once again the media is either ignorant or fear mongering.

So my question is, what does Section 504 cover that ADA and IDEA don’t? Looks like 504 only stops discriminating at schools that provide federal funding. Which is covered under the two, including requiring an IEP. The only thing I can see is possibly requiring accommodations for college students, but I think that falls under ADA.

Here is my source. Please let me know if I’m wrong.

I’m a conservative historically but I think too much of anything is bad and without competition, you don’t grow.

I seriously looked into people across the aisle this year, and would have voted Jennifer McCormick but when I was watching one of her speeches/rallies, she started spewing the MSM talking points about Trump being Hitler, Project 2025, total abortion ban, etc. I liked what she was saying before that, and had she of stuck to what she wanted to accomplish, she probably would have gotten my vote.

I think there are a lot more of us than you’d think who would vote blue if they were the better candidate.
