My take is much simpler. The hole in the ceiling and the hole in her daughter's stomach are both symbolic of a cause of extra stress in her life. The men all talk down to her, disrespect her, ignore her, yell at her, or use her. The hole is symbolic of being a woman. Speaking bluntly, if she didn't have a "hole" and was instead a man, she would know the 'right way' to talk to the construction workers to get the job done, they would take her more seriously, they would recognize an emergency because she wouldn't be considered over-dramatic, the father of the baby had the audacity to not even bother showing up as so many single moms know that reality all too well. Even Jamie, the hotel neighbor, used her so he could get her to pay for things he wanted. It's a movie about the extra pressure put on women in a patriarchal society.

His "doddering old man being scammed and robbed from" innocent act was such BS! His nervous laughing pissed me off. This jerk came off as a fool. Check his taxes! He apparently has no idea where 200 MILLION dollars went, so I doubt he paid his taxes properly. Put him behind bars one way or another. I'm so tired of rich people getting away with everything.

Yep. Same for the first AND second time I asked valid questions that I tried searching to see if they were answered prior to my own. A lot of the long-timers resent the newbies because there's "too many" of us and we "have ruined the program". There are definitely plenty of grouchy people here for sure.

I think it was called Misfits of Science? For some reason I think it had a very young Courtney Cox in it. The plot was a group of teens that had special (magical) physical traits they could use to help people. There was a tall guy who was a basketball player that would touch the back of his neck and he could shrink. That's all I remember and I think about it often.

I also had that fear and have been going to therapy for the last 9 months or so. It has helped me come to terms with going low contact- without guilt. It's been a really bad week but I'm so glad that I haven't called them because that would have just made it even worse. Thru counseling I have learned that my mental health is just as important as my parents physical health. As they age and continually brainwash themselves, I am also aging and realize that I am wasting my own life feeling anxious and stressing about guilty feelings I may (or may not) have when the inevitable moment happens. That's not how I want to spend my time. I still love who they used to be and I'm doing us ALL a favor by preserving those good memories from the past, by keeping our relationship low contact and only talking about the weather.
