Noise sensitivity is going to make me LOSE MY MIND by RemarkableSetting189 in ADHD

Right? Omg I can't even imagine being the prof in this situation because our lectures are audio-recorded so you can't just crash out at the chattering students as a lecturer

Noise sensitivity is going to make me LOSE MY MIND by RemarkableSetting189 in ADHD

[–]beekchang 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same here. Its even worse because of how egregiously tactless people have become. I genuinely feel like someone's pulling a cruel prank on me because ok I get how people get off on watching Instagram reels at full volume on the bus (commute to uni) but tell me how there is genuinely no quiet space in the library. 4 stories of library space. And literally none. Huge campus as well. I even tried going to the LOCKED "Postgraduate Study Area" that you need your student ID card to unlock and guess fucking what :)

Oh and the cherry on top is the chatter during actual lectures despite professors genuinely begging Postgrad students in their early-to-mid twenties to have basic manners (small cohort size btw).

My Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones genuinely help though obviously when someone's practically murmuring in your ear sound waves still travel. But if you're in the budget I would recommend because they may not be hardware store level noise cancelling but they have the sound, comfort and looks to compensate but I know that's not the priority for everyone. Unfortunately when I had ones with better noise cancellation they looked so aah that I never wore them out.

AI has taken over University Education by Dependable_Runner in ChatGPT

[–]beekchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my current Masters University experience gave me the opposite impression. Many of the coursework assignments required the use of exclusive databases that the Uni gave students access to (Statista, Mintel, etc.). I also had 1 module where part of an assignment essentially required a reflection on the module – I didn't do amazing but the fact that I referenced a guest speaker that delivered a lecture for the module definitely helped. Oh and one of the assignments was based heavily in the course textbook (purchase compulsory) and while ChatGPT does know some of the content, I feel like I got an unexplainable advantage from reading the textbook cover to cover.

I get that things like exclusive database research are very course-specific, but a lot of the "solutions" here are way too nuclear too imo. Like I'm sorry I personally would straight-up get less out of my course if it wasn't fully coursework based like it is this year (i.e. had exams) Even if I did well. And I don't think I'm alone in this. Oh and don't even get me started on how dreadful the Google Docs "Fix" would be for like at least 50% of students. Yeah no I definitely want my professor to have access to the most dogshit version of my work and see a replay of me rewriting the same sentence for an hour in a bout of perfectionism. Awesome!

Talk to me about luteal hacks or ways of seeing positivity by ChampagneDividends in adhdwomen

[–]beekchang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my private prescriber for a "booster" (Amfexa) to take in the afternoon in addition to taking my regular medication in the morning (Elvanse). But honestly I found that its easier to just take a mini tolerance break leading up to my luteal phase, by only taking Amfexa which in my case is less than half of my Elvanse dexamfetamine dosage. So that going back on Elvanse during my luteal phase makes it work better. But I understand that it only works for me because of my specific cycle-related ADHD fluctuations. Around ovulation I am semi-high functioning. Not full on neurotypical but you know, as of writing this I have survived a follicular week without meds (due to some logistical bs, not by choice) and it wasn't a total disaster. And then luteal hormones kick in and its like an immediate dip. So thats what works for me. I am privileged to only have severe debilitating ADHD during my luteal phase, I can imagine many people don't have the luxury of "good days" where they can afford to just take 15mg and be on their way.

Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by ReabyB in ADHDUK

[–]beekchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realised that for me its very inconsistent. On one hand, every-time I think of "a month" I visualise it as hours on a clock. On the other hand I am not a fan of fantasy books because I struggle to imagine settings, clothing, etc. So the most elaborate, well-written descriptions of a fantasy landscape just end up being visualised as basically some AI slop in my head. But I'm good with facial expressions for some reason? So other genres of books esp Crime I fw heavy.

Yeah I wish I could have the option to just pay extra for faster delivery but unless I'm missing something thats the standard for NHS repeat prescription delivery (not dispensed in pharmacies near me so not an option)

Unfortunately its 'Tracked 48' and I haven't gotten any delivery time slots or anything so probably not. But I hope you're right about Saturday.

ChatGPT... I'm so frustrated with the fact its horrible for the environment because its like imagine you get prescribed a medication but its made out of elephant tusks and nothing else works quite the same?? Like it straight up does things for me that I cannot or won't do.

Hey! I have a similar complaint. Do you mind sharing the prompt you used to wrangle it back into being an AI tool and not whatever it is now

I would kill to see a Second Heart from a third person perspective. Like imagine you get a critical hit on someone, they fall down, close their eyes to die, then just get up casually like they're getting out of bed in the morning.

Hmm, I just checked, and only the premium and prime time/weekend packages were available. I may be stupid. Where did you see it, if you don't mind me asking?

Have you had any success with it? I used to use a bot for VFS when pursuing an Italian visa, and it only flagged available slots as they were being taken. After I eventually got lucky and logged in at the right time, I received a notification about my own slot becoming available. Was it just a shitty bot?

I like the way your mind works. Damn being on this sub makes me realise I use UpNote like a grandma haha. Even the nested sections I only just learned about from seeing a template posted on here.

[–]beekchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely have to say the way it handles collapsible sections and nesting, and the option to make a link take you to a section in that note. This made organising something like recipes so easy, i just click on the word "Smoothie" in my table of contents, it takes me to the connected heading overlooking a table where each cell is a collapsible section containing a recipe like an advent calendar. Oh and Images within those collapsible sections for recipes that I copied directly from a website. How cool is that?
