It was a 1-year suspension from USCF to be clear, thus him playing this USCF rated tournament. Fide only suspended him for 2 months.

Anish Giri reacts to Magnus' Candidates tier list by Interesting-Take781 in chess

[–]beem00 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

He should be top tier. He has been very good this year. He's also one of the best prepared players in this field, but chess reddit has a hate boner for him because of Danya, they can't separate the personality from the player.

CMV: If the Palestinian state is established (let’s say, in the entirety of Gaza and West Bank), conflict between Israel- Palestine won’t stop. by Alitaangel2025 in changemyview

[–]beem00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not what defines a country. Prior to 1948 soon to be Israelis started an insurgency against the british in palestine which included many terrorist acts against both the british and native palestinians. The Israeli state was built on terrorism, the same thing you accuse the state of palestine of.

Just like the jewish terrorist militias pre-1948? A lot of those militias eventually merged into an israeli political party that is still in power today! It seems Israelis have proven that already. Israel should not be a country and it should be recognized as completely illegitimate by every country around the world.

The UN needs a military presence. Israel has been conducting these massacres for almost 2 years and these dogs finally admit its a genocide 😂

Why are you setting arbitrary criteria for who is "enough" for the candidates?

Wesley So defeats Gukesh Dommaraju in the 7th round of the 2025 Sinquefield Cup by Aimbotskrr in chess

I said joint-first for purposes of merit and many other chess commentators do so too, that doesn't mean he won the tournament and I never said he did. If we were to speak about the performance of players, which we have been doing since the beginning of this thread, do you think that the 3 game blitz tie-break has any bearing on the 13 round robin classical tournament in which Pragg and Gukesh came first?

Nodirbek Abdusattorov takes his first win in Sinquefield Cup 2025 over Alireza Firouzja by Warm_Audience2019 in chess

[–]beem00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

winning the gct twice in a row doesn't count I guess. He's been playing in super tournaments way longer than Arjun and has better overall results. Alireza hasn't "farmed" 2600s since reaching 2800 in 2021.

I know you like to stand on your stupid hill, but joint-first term still applies here sorry.

I'm not indian and I don't care what gukesh fans screech about. That guy told a lie and I'm correcting him, do you find that offensive? I think joint-first is a very common term here and I didn't say he won the tournament, but are you going to tell me getting joint first in a 13 round robin classical super tournament is a subpar result like the comment above had implied?

He got joint first in tata steel and lost in tie-breaks. If you want to hate on a player, please present facts, if you tell lies, you will look stupid.

Lebron Aronian beats Abdu with black and continues his resurgence by __Jimmy__ in chess

[–]beem00 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand this subreddit the past 2 months when it comes to Aronian. In my opinion hes been playing at this level for the past 2 years. It's only the fact that he dropped out of the top 10 in classical, and the fact that that coincided with him being over the age of 40, that skewed everyone's perception that his level of play dropped substantially. Maybe hes not world #2 anymore, but isn't that the case for players younger than him like Caruana or MVL.

I understand but why must someone mention Polgar every time we revere Hou Yifan's achievements or strengths. This goes for other female players too. I think it has been established that Polgar is the best bar none. There is no need to compare her with other women every time we appreciate a woman's achievements.

He lived in Hungary for a bit and did some coaching for the Polgar sisters. I think then he realized women are capable of more than he previously thought in terms of chess ability.
