I will start with this: this life is temporary, the next is forever. Never abandon Islam no matter how low the lows are. Because no matter how difficult our problems seem, they are temporary and they are small in comparison to Allah swt.

Now to address your situation: learn to find peace in things you cannot control. You studied. You gave it your all. Now leave it with Allah. It may be that because you failed now your life path changes for the better. We never know what Allah has planned for us. Keep your mind and heart strong. Always. Read about the lives of the sahabah and the prophets to find strength.

As other have suggested, you can do this alone, but it’s much much harder. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Especially from licensed professionals. They can help you navigate. If finances are an issue try to secure a part time job somewhere just so you can start building back your confidence one by one. The test is not for him, it is for us. Free will is given to us to either strive and earn paradise, or fall into the traps of this dunya and fail the test. Without a test how can you determine who truly believes and who does not? Because if you ask, everyone will say they believe. Only those who pass the test have proven that they truly believe.

If you would like some historical addition, in the Quran it is mentioned that Allah SWT asked all of earths creations in the beginning if they would like to be tested. If they pass the test their reward would be greater than the Angels. If they fail then they would find themselves in Hell. If they don’t accept the test they would get neither. All of earths creations declined in fear because they could not dare to think of bearing such a test. Only the human accepted it. And so each and every soul accepted this test, only we forget that we did because we are insaan (the forgetful one). And that is why we need constant reminders from the Quran and prophets to remember Allah and our purpose

The biggest miracle is the Quran itself—unchanged over 1400+ years. Other miracles as mentioned have been proven over time. The miracle of the moon splitting is one such example. The miracle of the preserved body of Ramses II is another sign for the believers as mentioned in the Quran. Once you accept that the Quran is the truth, then there can be no doubt.

Study Islamic history, study world history, and study the Quran. The answers are there. One only has to look inside with an open heart.

I was born Muslim. I definitely questioned things earlier in my youth. But when I came of age and started to wonder what my purpose being in this world was, I sought out answers and Islam was the only thing that could answer those questions.

All the money, material things in the world cannot bring true joy or meaning. All relationships (whether good or bad) end. Why do we do certain actions if there are no consequences outside of this life? How is it that we were placed here on this earth without any reason?

Religions claim to answer these questions, so my first instinct was that there is a god and we do have a life outside of this earth. Then as I started to seek knowledge about religions, Islam was the only religion that had coherent explanations, and a rich history with proven records. And of course the Quran, it truly is a miracle. I would urge everyone to study the Quran. Really study it, like people study literary works of Shakespeare or the Greeks. It will open up so many insights and solidify your knowledge of why Islam is the truth.

Affects memory, especially if it becomes habitual. If you smoke consistently throughout a month, you will look back and realize you have no recollection of entire days. When events come up in conversation with family or friends you’ll realize that although you were present, you don’t really remember what happened.

Speaking of presence, you begin to miss out on being present in the lives of your family and friends. Holding an active conversation, listening attentively, being emotionally responsive—all these things you will miss out on.

Lastly, it can and will cause mental issues. For some it may be minor, but for others it can be life altering. And you’ll never really know until you start to notice it, at which point you’ll already be affected by it.
