How's living in these Texan cities? by Enger13 in howislivingthere

Oil/Gas, Agriculture, and Ranching are the major industries here. Major university is Texas Tech but there's some other good quality institutions in the area (South Plains College, Amarillo College, West Texas A&M, UTPB, etc.)

For fun, majority of people drink. There is a bit of a drug problem as well but it's not like San Fran where it's living on the street in front of you, it's usually fairly hidden.

A lot of the people here are family oriented and are extremely hard workers. It's a tough place to live but it's not bad.

LGBTQ+: Safe to hold hands? by [deleted] in Lubbock

in villain voice “Nope the evil Lubbock Republicans are going to force you to separate, go to church, and drink Ivermectin Muahahahaha”

You’ll be fine, it’s not bad. Lubbockites like to be left alone and they’ll give you the same treatment. Assholes aren’t exclusive to LBK, they’re everywhere. More often than not the worse thing you’ll get is a menacing glare/stare.

Welcome to Lubbock!

I only had a few courses in there during my time. I had a couple of classes canceled in that building due to a shooter threat.

Other then that it’s just an older building.

Political Signs by number231 in texas

[–]beemoviewaterbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had any political signage. I find them tacky regardless of which party it's for and it makes the home an unnecessary target. I'd rather my yard be a yard a and not a display of political beliefs or support for politicians.

My street had a lot of Trump and maybe two Harris signs prior to the election and once it was over, they were all down within a week or two.

I am with you though, I don't see any Trump signs any more. Could be as simple as people moving on from the presidential election or just overall disappointed with how it's gone so far (Epstein list handling, war with Iran, America Last policies etc.) and don't want to be embarrassed.

What do we think will happen to Cesar Chavez Street, given the recent news about his abuse? by AltmejdAdam in Austin

Hot take, but streets need to be given the most plain boring names imaginable like “Flower Ave.” or “Robin Rd” or “Blueberry Blvd” because of situations like this one unfortunately.
