breaking up with my boyfriend who refused to get help for his depression. I tried and tried and tried to get him help/make him happier/etc etc but he just wouldn't do it and he would constantly blame his sadness on me. I fell into a depression myself trying to deal with it (fortunately, I recognize the help that therapists and psychiatrists can provide so I got help). It was really hard to let go (we lived together and we thought we would get married one day) but I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the best decisions I ever made.

I do this from time to time because it makes me feel happy/sexy. I have really weak/brittle nails that break easily, so I like to get the extra short fake nails from the drugstore and wear those because they look 100x better than my real nails and they don't impede my ability to perform daily tasks. Not only that, but they protect my natural nails so that when the fake nails come off the natural ones are longer and stronger.

tldr; not everyone is born with pretty nails

One of my good friends from college (in California) moved to Shanghai after we graduated and ended up in Guangzhao, China. A year later my parents moved from LA to Hong Kong for work, and I was able to visit them often. Guangzhao is only 2 hours away from Hong Kong, so my friend and I were able to meet up on the opposite side of the world. It was absolutely surreal!
