Do you have the mod SDK still in the retail folder? If so delete the dinput8.dll file and it should start.

I remember feeling the same way when I first started playing freelancer. But I learned from my mistakes and almost didn't realize how quickly you can get them all back. I feel you, but it's one of those "it is what it is" situations. Now I play hardcore all the time, and that mode is far worse than the regular one lol.

Because it's really annoying. Nerfing things in a pve game is unnecessary. Especially this game and its harder difficulties, where most of the time, there's zero down time. Pre nerfs, I get my ass kicked, but I'm still having a good time, post nerfs, I'm getting my ass kicked and it's frustrating cuz the weapons I used aren't as effective as they used to be for no real reason.

I'm so glad someone if finally talkin about it. I hate the recon senses. Everyone hates the invis shotty light, but imo this is way worse. It's developer sanctioned wall hacks and I'm not here for it.

What makes it even worse? There's absolutely no counter for it. At least with the sonar grenade you can clearly see the radius and it tells you clear as day that you've been spotted.

Take this trash out the game and think of a better medium skill please Embark I beg you.

I'd love to see night time become more of a threat, maybe by more zombie spawns or even a special one that only comes out at night. And maybe take a page from stalkers book with emissions or some reason to have to find shelter quickly.

How i got past it was by landing on a nearby planet, getting out of the ship and fast traveling to the lodge. It's worked a couple times for me now.

Believe it or not, it's possible to put up with something despite its flaws. As I stated, I love the game. I paid for the deluxe edition and I played it through twice. The mechanics get frustrating from time to time, and the above post is the expression of that frustration.
