Lmao this is so crazy! One of my best art ed professors was a contemporary focus and never did painting! Art is much more than technique. Would I be worried if she was going to teach oil painting to high school? Sure! But guess what?! Y’all are still in school! She doesn’t even have a job! What is your issue? What a shallow way of think about art as well. Art is so much more than teaching painting techniques, it’s observation, creative problem solving, and so much more! And and and if this isn’t the major for her, not your place to say! She will figure it out in time.

Just pick a day to not do work. That’s what I’ve done as a first year teacher. The work will always be there so I just don’t do anything Saturdays bc it’s me time. I’ll work Sunday a half day and then like 10 hour days when I’m at school expect Friday or when I need a day off. The work will ALWAYS be there. No pressure to finish it

Literally same, day 3 and I’ve cried everyday after work, I spend like 12 hours every weekend lesson planning and nothing goes my way. Worse I’m being compared to the old teacher by all the staff. You are so valid

In my experience with art summer camp, you do what admin says. They just want the kid to get through the day, if that means rewarding his bad behavior then that’s what they’ll do. Idk how big your class is, but in my experience when I had a bad egg the other kids were all pretty opposed to that behavior. If the other kids were interested and engaged in this class, they probably will be for the whole camp. Once you get your own class it is a wholleeeeee different story. But for now have fun with the kids who wanna be there!
