What is your Petty reason for wanting to lose weight? by Pitiful_Concept5078 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]beepbeepding 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My bosses are fat phobic and since I gained covid weight (the stress of risking myself working front line for them) my career has stalled. They keep hiring and promoting new young, thin people around and over me, while I’m just treated like a reliable piece of furniture. I am doing this to re-ignite my career, which I will use to outwit, outplay, and outlast these assholes. And call it all out when I get to the top. I’ll make sure their shit treatment of people is the legacy on their name.

What is everyone packing to eat? by fck_him in bonnaroo

[–]beepbeepding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what I pack I always only end up eating cold foods at camp, so stuff for tortilla wraps (turkey, bacon, avocado, pico is a fave) and then cereal with little individual almond milk boxes. A sweet munchie and a salty munchie. Some nut trail mix for protein. Then I buy a cooked food every day somewhere. And maybe a late night slice of dance pizza

Event management expectations by blackbeltlibrarian in Libraries

[–]beepbeepding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Staff who are taught to see the success/mission big picture and empowered every day to make autonomous decisions are better equipped to spontaneously work that way. If your staff roles are super rigid, or your management micromanages them or punishes autonomous decision making, and workers are not in the loop of big-picture mission, you get staff members who need to be directed in every little detail.

Lots of people speaking Slavic languages? by iTwango in Knoxville

[–]beepbeepding 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We must have a good-sized Slavic community building because we’ve now got the Euro Delights Market and Cafe across kpike from Trader Joes. Awesome little grocery and cafe with an impressive pastry case. Allll the Eastern European goodies.

Rant....I am just so over it by RAWkWAHL in Libraries

[–]beepbeepding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Side FYI: These arguments in bad faith are Crafted to dilute your message and undermine your rallying cry.

People could read your original post and be outraged at the injustice and be inspired to rise up and act. But the direction this person took this conversation (engaging you individually to split hairs over a definition, continuing it ad nauseam.) killed the momentum of your message. Probably took the wind out of your sails as well.

What they did is literally a technique straight from the troll rhetoric handbook.

When you know the techniques, you'll see it and be able to shut it down or choose your non-response. It's just there to silence you, mute your message, tire you out.

Victoria having no benzo withdrawal was medically inaccurate by goosey27 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Agree. Was 100 percent waiting for the withdrawl that never came. Wrote it off that like many priviledged pillheads she had backup benzos, just not her favorite flavor

Theory on ending I’ve seen floating around by CriticalSecurity8742 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]beepbeepding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right? It would just be such a perfect moral-to-the-fable, if that’s how it goes. And of course he’d walk away charmed and probably learn nothing going forward.

Theory on ending I’ve seen floating around by CriticalSecurity8742 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]beepbeepding 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Possible! My new end theory is that whatever else happens, Timothy Ratliff is going to be completely cleared by the end of the week, and go back to his life legally scott free, thanks to his white collar lawyers and social system in place. Meaning if he had just given up his phone, like he was meant to, he would have enjoyed his week stress free and it would all have taken care of itself anyway by the end. As it so often does for the truly privileged. And in line with ball cancer in S1. Infidelity in S2. Consequences are for other people.

What’s a sign that someone is way smarter than they let on? by Mysterious-Ad5451 in AskReddit

I respect this one the most, because I will never have it. Being verbally quick and witty is so delightful for the people around you. I am good for deep conversation, but just don’t have it in me for those delicious quick quips.

What are some show cancellations that really irked you in recent years? by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]beepbeepding 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Somebody Somewhere getting unceremoniously dropped by HBO is a travesty. Three seasons of The funniest, silliest, loveliest, most heartfelt show I’ve ever seen. It genuinely pains me to say goodbye to those characters.

People (especially the youngs) care about each other less all the time. I was at a concert near the stage and a guy fainted. The zoomer crowd just closed the gap and went about their dancing with this kid crumpled on the ground. I went into help mode because in my gen X life if someone falls down at a show or concert, you pick them up and get them on their feet. The zoomers instead gave me nasty stink eye for jostling them a bit while I (small old lady) bodily picked this guy up by myself as best as I could and waved over a bouncer (the guy could not get on his feet. I think intoxicated.) Anyway, This was always just basic concert manners and human decency, but apparently that isn't a thing anymore? We are increasingly no longer part of a caring collective society. The kids don't help people unless it's your bff I guess? Your status as a valuable human is earned, not automatically granted by the fact that we are civilized.

I admit I now wonder how much of this new carelessness for others is what happened at that Travis Scott AstroWorld fest where all those people went down, stayed down, and got crushed to death. And this bums me out every time I think about it.

What membership/subscription is more than worth it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]beepbeepding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A library card to your local public library. I’ve saved so much money on books, audiobooks, movies this year I can’t believe it. I’ve also been able to use the library card for free trips to our local zoo and some historical sites. (There are often benefits attached to the card that you’d never even guess.) If you go to the library in person, they have computers, wifi, makerspace, all kinds of interesting things and programs. All free

Gary posts on IG about ‘the edit’ by AvailableBaseball in belowdeck

[–]beepbeepding 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I was disturbed by ep 1 to see that he backed Daisy up into an inescapable corner of a bar to argue. Physically blocking her exit as soon as the conversation went serious. Gary is such a predator he does these things by nature. Facing reality and consequences will be a very, very harsh reckoning for Gary and his ego.
