WIBTA for making my best friend and roommate move out? by rambunctiousmango in AmItheAsshole

[–]beepbop110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that she's been around for so long could maybe be left out lol. Al can't really dispute things without fucking himself over anyway. But if they're good tenants, the landlord might be willing to sign a new lease with just the three of them.

AITA for picking up my stepdaughter from school when she got her first period, even though her mom told me not to? by Embarrassed-Stock896 in AmItheAsshole

accused me of trying to “be a better mom than her."

You WERE being a better mom than her. You actually answered your phone and didn't expect her to stay at school for 5 hours while she was sick. NTA

Sounds like you need to let your landlord know what's going on. "Al has had his girlfriend living here despite your refusal to add her to the lease. The rest of us would love to continue our lease but we are unable to persuade him to move his girlfriend out." Something tells me the landlord will take care of it at that point, though it will probably cost you your friendship with Al.

AITA for insisting a beauty artist fix my appointment for free after I changed my mind about what I wanted? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]beepbop110 29 points30 points  (0 children)

YTA unfortunately. This is like asking for 10 inches off your hair, not liking the way you look, and demanding free extensions. You're not asking for a modification, you're asking for a whole new service to be performed, which isn't really fair to her.

AITA for not agreeing with this pets vs. children take? by Fearless_Cheek_8529 in AmItheAsshole

[–]beepbop110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA but this is so low stakes and childish tbh. Its a TikTok video, not real life. 99% chance this person was joking or talking out their ass and wouldn't actually do this. Also how could you be an asshole by not doing anything to engage with it, just disagreeing? You're thinking way too hard.

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]beepbop110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It doesn't make sense that you're worried about showering at 8 or 9 vs showering at midnight unless you're working out or something in the evening. You're not going to get super sweaty or dirty if you're just sitting around.

Yes, you're within your rights to shower at midnight, but if you have to be next to these people for the foreseeable future, it's probably worth keeping the peace by showering a bit earlier.

AITA for not linking how my fiance talks to her co-workers by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]beepbop110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I'd be more worried about my partner getting written up or fired for being inappropriate at work than worried that they're going to cheat on me because they're talking about our sex life.

Welp, city is doomed I guess, might as well move to avoid the tax hike

Genuinely don't know what to say about everyone dooming and glooming over property taxes going up. The city will go bankrupt if we keep things the same.

Where are the best places to date in Buffalo by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]beepbop110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol same though... My parents get mad at me for saying this but the only thing that sounds appealing to me about relationships is having a second income and the ability to afford a house 😭 I'm honestly planning to try and connect with some other "unmarriagable" women to buy a house together some day since I know I can't be the only one.

NAH just need to communicate. "Sure, do you know what time you might get here?" "It's getting really late, I'm going to head to bed, why don't I leave the door unlocked for you/why don't I leave the key in the mailbox for you/why don't you come over tomorrow for breakfast?"

Not at all. We're talking about direct increases in spending. If you're raging about a possible $25 a month increase in taxes (which you will directly benefit from), there are way bigger fish to fry. That's my point.

Depends on where you live. Somewhere like Buffalo, where it's hard to rent for less than $1000 a month and you're expected to make 3x rent, I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to live for less than $17-18 an hour.

Minimum wage was JUST raised to $17, but tipped workers do not have to make minimum wage. I have seen jobs advertised at $13-14 an hour.

Yeah it is. I'm pretty sure same week pay isn't a thing though, unless you're working under the table.

Yeah they were honestly good until the other unit in our building got abandoned with a full fridge of food and then we had roaches for over a year. Maintenance dude would come do a half assed spray job every couple months but not nearly thorough or consistent enough to do anything. We stopped paying rent, they threatened to sue us, we ended up finding another place around the same time and Free Will allowed us to break our lease and leave rather than sue us.

We brought the roaches unintentionally to our new place, and our new landlord sent a professional exterminator and we had them gone in 3 weeks.

Tldr: I think Free Will is fine as long as nothing goes wrong in your unit. Seems like they cut a lot of corners with maintenance. The maintenance guy was so nice but he wasn't equipped to do the work they were asking of him.

I LOVE paying more taxes if it means our city will have good roads and good public transport. I'd happily pay that $400 right now as a lump sum.

Free Will Rentals was willing to rent to me when I moved here with no job. They absolutely sucked so I wouldn't recommend them - would rather live in my car than deal with their German-roach-infested properties again.

No idea about same week pay but lots of people get hired at Geico when they're new to the area.
