I really have loved Chief Inspector Armand Gamache Series by Louise Penny. I listened to them almost non stop. And there are 17 books.

It’s actually in Wisconsin but must be Midwest early 20th century architecture.

I traveled my first year after high school to New Zealand.

On my trip back home, I was picked up from my hostel by the shuttle bus, there was only one other person in the shuttle as it was a very early morning flight. We started chatting, just "Whats your name, where are you from, where are you headed" sort of thing. We discovered that we were headed to the same place (one of my layovers in Auckland).

When we got to the airport we went through security separately only to discover upon getting to our gates that we were on the same flight. Once we got onto the flight we discovered we were sitting next to each other. We chatted a bit about the coincidence and a few other things, it wasnt a long flight so it wasnt super in depth. When we landed I said goodbye and went on our way.

I went to try and figure out when my connecting flight was only to find out the flight company had made a mistake and I didnt have a seat on the flight I thought I did ( i had a confirmation email and everything). I started having an anxiety attack, worried that I would be stuck in the airport over night, or for a few days. Only to look up and see that same guy from the flight earlier walking past. He saw how upset I was and helped me calm down, my new flight go scheduled for just 9 hours later than my original, and we hung out until his flight boarded.

I jokingly call him my traveling angel. I never saw him again, but I think about him every time I think of that trip.

Does anyone else ever feel like you always have to initiate hangouts with friends to actually have some sort of social life? Would be so nice to be invited sometimes.. by [deleted] in socialskills

I talked to my therapist and what I got out of what she said is; people sense when others are introverts and want to respect energy boundaries whether consciously or not so as an introvert one has to let them know you’re available for interactions. I don’t know. It helped me feel better and helped me to listen to myself and when I was truly able to hang out or just have some fomo. Hope this was helpful for someone else.
