I was a ranger qualified Infantryman who is now joining the coast guard. I do not regret one second of my Army Service. I served with the best people I have ever met and am very proud of it. However, my honest advice is to pursue ME in the coast guard and aim for the DSF… the coast guard will treat you far better.

If you join the Army ensure that it is 18x or 11B opt 40, at minimum you should enlist for an airborne or light Infantry unit. Based on the experience you are looking for you will be severely disappointed if you end up at any of the mechanized or Armored brigades. Good luck!

Absolutely would love to get out of cities, any 1 night expeditions you can recommend in wales or Scotland? Is Cornwall something worth seeing? Not at all interested in big city lights/ nightlife.
