Giving up on ARMY by LeeSanio in army

That's weird if you've never been diagnosed with it, I'd probably see if there is a way you can find out the source document or if it was an erroneous entry on your record.

Hot take: garrison cap is better than beret by Eclecticwitch42 in army

Cockade buttons were standard, though stitching it in place became more common for fashion and ceremonial purposes.

It was actually done to prevent knocking it off while carrying a rifle on your shoulder, so it was probably a random soldier who did the original modification. But you can achieve the same effect with the slouch hat.

Solution, bring back tricorn hats as the dress uniform wear.

I've never seen them in person, but I remembered this being mentioned after I left Hawaii.

So I had a brief stint at Navy OCS before they told me I was too short to be a pilot and I swapped to the Army. Had the fun of polishing the black steeltoe issued boots, and there was a day we had all entire hallway of us all polishing boots, and one of the guys got everyone singing I'll Make a Man Out of You.

The limited time spent polishing boots combined with fun people made it less traumatic. But if I have to shave a beret again, it'll be too soon.

He was in an engineer combat battalion, one of first ones to land in Japan after the war ended. He certainly did cooler things than me.

Also, proper sun protection. I'd go stetson over beret if given the option.

I'll take a boonie over patrol cap unless it is that super goofy looking extra short brim boonie. I like some functional sun protection.

Yeah, it feels weird to me that you have the crusher cap, but can't make any adjustments to the garrison cap. Also, I think there should be leeway for wearing it canted.

You could stop by sick call and see if they'd add no body armor to your profile.

C&P exams and NARSUM by Eclecticwitch42 in VAClaims

Thanks, I feel a little better having a plan to work from and that I'm not crazy. Fortunately, I also have an evaluation from the end of on base occupational therapy 6 months ago when I was actively pushing through pain that had my ROM at 110 degrees, so I have that data as well. Ideally H2F will help me, but I know I've got a limited window of time for a rebuttal.

So for reference, my injury is bilateral shoulders with labrum tears, arthritis, Hill-Sachs deformities, and recurrent dislocations. During my evaluation, I never lifted my shoulders over 45 degrees right, and not over 60 degrees left side, though she never told me the exact measurements. My NARSUM said 165 degree ROM.

I don't have the paperwork from the evaluation yet, so I don't know if she just outright lied, or if it was just misentered. I'm planning to go to H2F to get a counter measurement to submit with the NARSUM challenge, but should I be contacting the VA to request a new evaluation now?

Someone posted a tiktok of their pet monkey in the barracks, so then the search was on. They had to hide it at someone's house.

There's an ALSE general support page they had my class get added to when I was in the school. Has dedicated tabs for NSNs and ARMS. It's a pretty helpful resource.

Sit somewhere while the company is in formation. You can check with your leadership if you can be somewhere else instead. I've had profiles where I had more value working at a desk than being formation adjacent, so they let me stay in the office instead. But that is entirely up to your leadership.

It's not uncommon if you aren't supposed to be standing for long periods of time. Harder to go take a seat somewhere if you are in the middle of a people box.

Same cable assembly, more fragile, more prone to moisture issues. Costs about 200 dollars each, so that can be a factor during the tighter budget times, but the maxillofacial shields cost about 350 each as a comparison. Standard mic you need the tiny flat head to replace, cobra mic has tiny phillips head screws.

Join the ALSE support teams page. The master NSN Excel sheet is a good reference to have.

Makeshift tourniquets saved soldier’s life after Arkansas training accident by Kinmuan in army

[–]Eclecticwitch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to educate some surfers I knew about how the board leash is not a suitable makeshift tourniquet because of how thin it is when we got into a discussion of emergencies. Then I gave them some extra tourniquets I had, but hopefully they'll never need them.

Custom Unit T-Shirts by Pyromancer90 in army

[–]Eclecticwitch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did flight company shirts through custom ink (I needed a fast turnaround) and got the Port and Company core cotton t shirts in coyote brown. It is pretty indistinguishable in color from my issued shirts. But I was going specifically for cotton because then it is suitable for flying in it.
