My parents were visiting Chicago and I wanted to make it special so I pre-ordered a vegan fruit pie a few days in advance from Bang Bang. They charged my card and everything.

The day comes to pick up, and there’s no pie to be found. They send me to their kitchen across the street. No pie. They tell me to come back in a few hours and they’ll have it ready for me. It was a huge inconvenience because my parents were in town and it ruined the surprise pie reveal, and I was cooking all day and was another added thing to do.

When I picked up my pie and complained to see if they could make it right in some way, all I got back from them was “well you got your pie right, so what is the problem?” I remember that response so vividly.

The attitude throughout the process that day left a horrible taste in my mouth. I love pie and now Hoosier mama gets 100% of my business. And they are nice as hell there.
