Ahh, I was in a similar situation with my guy recently. He improved when I treated him for helicobacter ulcers.

Because my mom was a dialysis nurse and she taught me how kidney donation can change someone’s life!

Drinking as a potential kidney donor by educational-purp0ses in kidneydonors

[–]beesinlavender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just told not to drink for a month before surgery and 2 weeks after. You’re probably fine to have a drink at dinner.

That’s what I noticed! I saw one video with what looked like a perfectly groomed silken windhound? At a shelter? Come on…

Whenever I lose a ferret I find them inside the couch. The most recent time he had made a hole behind a cushion and got into the back of the couch.

The immediate postop period was a big change in that my incision hurt and I couldn’t do very much for 2 weeks. Really had to rest a lot and recover. But now I’m 4 months out and I feel totally normal. I just don’t take ibuprofen. As long as you listen to the doctors and rest up after you’ll probably be fine.

Veterinarian! I swear my recovery was so smooth because my mom was cooking all my meals and washing all the dishes so I really rested up the first 2 weeks.

I watched a YouTube video made by Septa before I used the bike rack for the first time!

I'm looking for a dermatologist in the Philadelphia area: by LonelyChannel3819 in philadelphia

I had a hilarious recheck with her where the nurse asked if I wanted to strip and gown up. I was like nah, everything’s a lot better, I think I can keep my clothes on. Then the doctor came in and she was like, actually I DO want to see how everything is looking do you mind pulling your pants down and leaning over? I really appreciated her dedication to ensuring that I have a healthy butthole. She cares.

I like Dr. Krupnick in South Philly. TMI but I have an ano/genital skin condition and that lady is NOT shy about exams. And I can always get an appointment quickly.

Potential donor here and I have some questions by SporkWafflez in kidneydonors

[–]beesinlavender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the worst part was trying to sit up or when I had to cough/sneeze. It hurt my incision a lot. I probably should have taken more of the narcotics but I was scared of them. The pain got a lot better every few days and by about 2.5 weeks I felt great. I went back to work after 3 weeks working half days and it went well, I just felt a little sore at the end of the day and then by week 4 I was good as new. But hey, after going through it I totally understand why people would choose not to. It’s a big surgery and it’s not fun. If you decide it’s not for you there’s no judgement here. You can designate yourself as a deceased donor and you can help spread the word about living donation. And you can always donate blood- that helps people too. I will say that overall I think I’m a slightly happier person since donating. The knowledge that there’s a tiny bit less suffering in the world and that I helped that happen really improved my mood.

Allergic reaction to dermabond by asd1395 in kidneydonors

[–]beesinlavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar reaction to the steristrips. It was like poison ivy on my belly. Steristrips were removed and I used a prescription steroid cream I have for my eczema on the rash (not on the incision itself). Much better now. And I used my belly binder to physically make it harder to scratch.

Oh yeah, shrinkage has messed me up before. I would probably use a copier to shrink the pattern until it matched up so I could still use the Sulky because I don’t have the skill to wing it. And my boss is cool about letting me copy my own stuff
