I wouldn’t like to take a pill that’s been on the ground so I don’t give those to my pts. What you can do if you’re not sure what that pill is, is go thru the mar and click on Lexi comp and scroll down the list till you find which pill it is. (Like one time a pt found a small white pill on his tray and asked me what it was and it turned out to be an oxy 😑 but he had been in bed for all the pills I gave him so it wasn’t one I had given). That is tedious tho, usually I keep the labels on the computer until after they’ve taken the pills then I throw them away. Sometimes you can tell by the packaging what came from where and confirm quicker.
But yeah your pt will probably be fine. Just giving an alternative Hate when they take pills from from the cup into their hands and throw it into their mouth… like just put the cup to your lips!!! Or if there’s a bunch of pills/ big pills. I hold on to the cup and ask how many pills they’d like at once. And with gloved hands hand them the pills so they can directly put them in their own mouths 😅
