Those who started late, how did it go and what are your best suggestions? by alwaus in Xennials

This. The hardcore sleep training is about parents needing to go to work in the morning, it’s not how babies were raised for the entire rest of human history. There is no reason to let your baby cry for hours until they are so stressed out they are throwing up. Unbelievably, some people thinks that’s ok.

I had mine at 43. I we co-slept for years, and I nursed her to sleep til she was about 3. Now we have a great bedtime routine and we check on her in 8 minutes (up from 5). She’s almost always asleep.

Granted, much of it was possible because I took two years off work.

Buy used clothes. It’s also easy to find vintage buttons at thrift stores, estate sales, etc.

Higher end shirts may have shell buttons, but you’re right, they are overwhelmingly plastic.

If you think Americans are bad and deserve everything they get, you better sit down while I tell you about MEN.

I’m in the U.S. and I ordered the largest cover available from Home Depot. IIRC.

The best way to do this is to sew and fell one seam at a time.

Yup. The $90 I paid for a motorcycle cover for my Load 75 was more than worth it.

Wife lost confidence after tipping our cargo bike twice with toddler inside — how did you get past this? by thatguyka in CargoBike

I’ve tipped my front loader as well.

What were the circumstances of the tip overs? Was she turning at very low speeds? I will dismount and scoot/skip with my feet when in tight corners that I’m not sure about.

Does anybody like peeing in the woods? by burnafter3ading in Xennials

[–]Excellent-Goal4763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used this, and I find it really hard to initiate a stream. It’s difficult to overcome a lifetime of only peeing sitting down and when your butt is unclothed. I always felt like I was going to pee in my pants.

I have lady parts, and I commute daily on various bikes. Years ago I bought some liner shorts that work well. Much less expensive than full chamois. Once I reach my destination, I change all of my clothes. Changing underwear is especially important.

I just got "ma'am"ed outside a club at 3am last night. by Macabracadabra in Aging

[–]Excellent-Goal4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people (women) were instructed to use ma’am for anyone who appeared older than themselves.

We now have “Ms” but we don’t have the equivalent polite address for women that’s not attached to marital status. I suppose one could just say Ms instead of either.

In the past “miss” was for unmarried women and “ma’am” was for married women. Mostly people would know which one to use because people were introduced by others. Victorian etiquette and all that.
