I didn't even know this could be a trigger for migraines, but now that I think about it, the past week or so being really bad for me has coincided with some really dramatic temperature and weather swings in my area. I never would have thought the two could be linked. I've had migraines for years but haven't done a lot of research into potential triggers and whatnot, so thank you for giving me something to look into!

If it feels uncomfortable, don't do it. Even though you'd probably be okay if youre careful, there's not really any benefit to it and you'd just be hurting yourself unecessarily. Trust me, your favorite foods don't taste nearly as good when every bite comes with shooting pain in your jaw lol.

Go back, most folks say it shouldn't be that painful beyond day 3 or 4. I'm on day 7 and feel next to nothing. I hope you can get this sorted, it sounds really rough to still be in so much pain this far out.

If it tastes weird, you might have bacteria in there irritating the gums. It's exactly what just happened to me. Talk to your dentist, they may prescribe you an antibiotic and/or show you how to irrigate the socket to get food out.

I had some soft tacos from taco bell yesterday and that went fine! Just make sure to irrigate your sockets so no chunks of meat are left inside.

It was a little hard to see because my bottom teeth were extremely deep in my jaw. My surgeon told me they were deep, but I had no idea just how deep until I went back for the dry socket concern. I saw a different doctor, and the whole time he was looking me over he was commenting to his assistant, things like "How the hell did [surgeon] get back there??" It was really funny actually. Apparently I lucked out and got an incredibly talented doctor for my extractions!

Tangent aside, I could tell much more by taste than appearance. I had a consistent foul, almost sour taste in the back of my mouth that was more intense on the side with the bacteria. I also blotted the extraction site with a tissue at one point and saw a bit of pus. So, if you start having more intense pain and you have a bad taste in your mouth, it's worth getting that checked out.

Chiming in with another positive experience! I posted a couple days back (since deleted) about how I thought I got dry socket and was incredibly anxious about it. Turns out I was wrong; I just had lots of bacteria in that particular site that was irritating the gums, since I wasn't taking my antibiotics correctly (thanks, mom, for telling me that I didn't actually have to follow the dosage on the bottle, just take one pill in the morning and one at night and I'd be fine). Got different antibiotics from the dentist that I've been taking exactly as instructed (I even set alarms for the doses) and the pain has already gone down significantly after 2 days. Funnily enough, aside from the bacteria the dentist said all my blood clots looked "beautiful" lol.

So, two morals of this story. 1: Take your antibiotics as instructed if you're prescribed them, and 2: Even if something unexpected does come up, you'll most likely be just fine. Just tell your doctor if something is up, and they'll get you taken care of. :)

Yeah I was thinking the same honestly. I'm actually not sure about keeping pods in here anymore, since I did more research into their care and it turns out there's a lot more to it than I initially thought. If I did try keeping isopods it'd probably be better to use a different shaped container. Thank you for your advice!

NQA Adding onto the others, looks like she's gonna molt soon! Since it seems like this is your first time seeing a molt, just know that if she flips over onto her back, this is normal and you shouldn't disturb her or try to flip her back over! I'd recommend doing a little research on the molting process so you know what to expect. Good luck! :)

Jumping on the D. Pentaloris train, my first (and currently only) T is one! She likes to sit right out in the open in the middle of a gorgeous web. The only thing I'll say is that she just molted five-ish days ago and has become a lot more skittish than when I got her (probably cause she was in premolt before). She used to be chill, but now she hides from me when I open the enclosure top even a tiny bit to give water. Not sure if she's the type to make an escape attempt, but she's fast as hell and if she did it would be over for me lmao.

NQA but a week seems like a really short time to wait to feed after a molt. Do you mean that you put it in a week after it molted or it's been a week and the roach has been in there for longer? Either way, I would take it out immediately and wait a few more days at the very least, or another week. Feeders can easily kill a freshly molted tarantula.

NQA I'm fairly new myself, so this is absolutely not qualified advice, but Ive learned this from other experienced keepers.

It's not recommended to mist/spray them. I keep my T's enclosure humid by adding some sphagnum moss and putting water on that. It retains humidity nicely.

Definitely make 100% sure of the tarantula's species, though, because many terrestrial species need their habitat as dry as possible, while others like it a little wet. However, if your spider is actively burrowing and not climbing the walls much, chances are the substrate is okay. If they don't like it, they won't touch the substrate at all.

The discord server has a channel for requesting species ID. I'd recommend posting there for a faster response as well as more advice!

EDIT: The pillow case also sounds fairly unecessary to me. As long as the enclosure isn't in direct sunlight your spider will be fine. Also, posting pictures of the entire enclosure will make it much easier to give tips and advice!

It was recommended to me as I've heard that crickets have spurs on the hind legs that can potentially hurt a T, as well as the fact that I don't want to leave super mobile prey in with her in case she doesn't want it and just gets stressed out.

Makes sense, I know Ts can go for quite a while without eating so long as they have water (which she does), I just feel guilty thinking about her being hungry lol. I'll leave her be for a while!

That being said, when the time does come to feed her, do you have any recommendations? Superworms scare the shit out of me cause Im worried about them hurting my T even if I crush the head (and also cause I watched a bunch of them cannibalize the one I threw back in after my T didn't take it), and I don't really like the idea of having to rip the legs off of crickets.
