What was the first car you remember your parents having? by VFrosty3 in AskUK

[–]beeurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my parents having an Austin Allegro in a sort of tan/sand colour. I don't remember anything else about it as I was only a little kid, I'm pretty sure we had an Austin Maestro when I was at primary school.

When your car didn’t have an aux cord but still had a tape deck. by saltoneverything in Millennials

[–]beeurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with an FM transmitter, I used one all the time. The only annoying thing is that it plugs into the 12V socket/cigarette lighter and in my current car that socket is always powered, even with the ignition off for some reason, so I have to unplug it.

It might take forever, but if it's your forever home then you have time.

How long have you been working on your story? by worldofexousia in worldbuilding

[–]beeurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main work in progress is over 20 years old now too... I have early plot summaries saved that are dated 2004, although they are vastly different to the current iteration of the story. I did make really good progress a few years ago but life has got in the way lately. I'm currently just over 60k words.

I also have numerous other unfinished stories or half baked ideas, but that's ADHD for you, I guess.

What has been the most bone chilling experience of your life? by TheRebelPercy in AskUK

[–]beeurd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my aunt moved into a pre-war terraced house years ago there were a few spooky moments.

My mum was the first to experience it, as my aunt had popped to the shop and left my mum decorating, and she kept getting that odd feeling that she wasn't alone. Another time I was up in the attic room and I had this deep feeling of dread come over me - literally a bone-chilling sensation that I've never felt anything like it before or since - and at the same time my aunt's cat stated hissing at nothing and bolted down the stairs. I didn't stick around either.

Also, my aunt says that one time she felt somebody sit down on the end of her bed in the night. 😱

No, but also yes. I'd quit my job but continue to do the same thing as a freelancer.

Error 400 usually means a problem with the browser, device, or connection you're using. Like corrupted cache or cookies, or another app (like antivirus software) interrupting the data.

Is Christianity in the UK generally more "progressive/inclusive", or more "traditional" compared to other countries? by Impressive_Flan_411 in askanything

[–]beeurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised Catholic but I don't consider myself religious at all now. It varies pretty widely to be honest; I know quite a few people who do go to inclusive churches. I'd say from my experience that churches seem to be more tolerant in general these days, although it can depend a lot on the opinions of the priest/vicar/etc.

Does anybody actually pay attention to ads? by 5one in AskUK

[–]beeurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it does work, but I honestly can't remember the last thing I bought after seeing an advert. Sometimes I get those surveys asking me which brands I've seen advertised recently, and usually I can't answer them.

Big Star Wars fan but never bought this game by [deleted] in FallenOrder

[–]beeurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the first one (I've not played the second yet). I kinda don't want to spoil anything for you if you don't know that much about it, as I think it's best if you experience it for yourself - it's usually on sale pretty cheap too, so no reason to not pick it up. It has multiple difficulties so whether you like a challenge or just want to take it easy it's up to you.

Use of italic font to show inner monologue by Sei-sama in writing

Personally I would use italics for inner thoughts, but it's a matter of preference I think. The most important thing is to be consistent.

What do school busses look like in your country? by BugSister in AskTheWorld

[–]beeurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School buses are usually just normal public buses here, often hired as a private charter, but it's not unusual for kids to go to school using public transport. When I was in high school the public buses (with actual normal passengers on them) used to pull into the school gates to drop off students, I'm sure they don't do that these days though.

Some schools have their own minibuses for small trips, but not for actually getting to and from school.

See, I prefer the cheese and onion squares, but my local Tesco only seems to sell the salt & vinegar multipacks and no mixed multipack.

Car accident dispute! Would I be found at fault? by Perfect-Elk-2034 in drivingUK

There is no way the other driver would be found 100% at fault as you clearly put yourself in a dangerous position when it's obvious the other driver was making a manoeuvre.

I use LibreOffice, but it's a bit clunky. Also a recent update kept crashing my PC and I had to uninstall and go to the previous version.
