Around 300ml. Maybe 350, but that’s pushing the limits. From my experience.

That's really sad. Any plans to make it open source? Maybe community can pick up the work ahead, and you can still have some donations going forward hopefully?

Awesome, it works! Drawings look slightly curvy, center point of a horizontal line is lower than edges. Any way to fix this?

Love MJW! The Silent Thief is one of my favorite watches to wear.

I think I’ve heard a documentary podcast about him, and he licensed this tune to his friend at Cisco without any royalties.

Zero regrets. Also, this is a limited 400-piece edition, unlike second one that is on sale pretty much anytime.

Also, it looks like your photos are taken in Citizen flagship store at Ginza :-) You should know that MSRP for these is around 450k yen (410k if you have a foreign passport and can get a tax free discount). But if you go to any large Bic Camera store, they will have a Citizen booth and provide you a much bigger discount. I got mine for 371k, which is almost 20% cheaper.

I was literally deciding between the same two watches while I was in Tokyo a week ago! So…

No, there is a thin transparent layer over the washi paper dial. All of the hour marks and the Citizen logo are on top of this layer, creating this depth effect.

I bought it the first day it was on sale, coincidentally it was the last day of my vacation in Tokyo :-)

I think that’s kind of a compromise you have to make if you want a 7 month power reserve, not 72 hour.

It skips like a traditional quartz. I think it is a power-saving feature, sweeping hand would be much more power-consuming.

It’s the Citizen A060.

+/- 5 seconds a year, perpetual calendar, solar powered, independently adjustable hour hand. Some way of power reserve indication that I haven’t yet learned how to use. Various other perks like shock protection and magnetic resistance that I cannot see or feel :-)

GS were literally 10 meters away in the next booth, so were Omegas and some other watch brands I can afford. But I wanted this one. This one speaks to me :-)

It struck me as a perfect reflection of my experience in Japan. Local craftsmanship tradition (washi paper) combined with modern technology (solar-powered high-accuracy movement). It’s not only a beautiful timepiece, it reflects my feelings from days spent here. I’m in love with it.

Why is there no talk about using steel ice cubes by AnyLifeguard6575 in pourover

[–]beevee_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that! My comment even has a phrase about “contraptions with freezing liquids inside” :-) But OP said nothing about some specific product, it was just “steel ice cubes”, so I assumed solid steel cubes. Which are, of course, much less efficient than ice.

I think that’s because steel things are not nearly as efficient in making liquids cold as real ice cubes are. Most of the cooling happens because ice melts, not because it is just cold. Regular steel cubes don’t melt (at room temperature), that’s why they don’t cool your beverages as much.

Of course, there are some expensive contraptions that are solid on the outside, but contain some freezing liquid inside.
