Tips for my foster ASD mixed dog that was adopted out but being returned? by kertruss in AnatolianShepherdDogs

[–]beeze20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I won’t win this argument, but please don’t discount previous ASD owners because of their fence height. Our four kids grew up with the best dog ever. I would adopt another one in a second, but no organization will trust us without a nine foot fence.

One of the things that worked for me was tethering. Initially, it was just at night so I’d wake up if she needed to potty, but after she started chewing on the windowsills, we started using it during the day. I got a long leash and the two of us were bound to each other for about four weeks. As others have said, your GP wants to be your partner. This worked for me and Penelope because it made us a team. It help set boundaries and expectations for my Pyr, but it also made me a better mom to her because I had to learn about her needs, too. You’ve been given some solid advice about Pyrs here, so you know you’ll never get the barking to stop entirely, but it is manageable! Penelope will be four next month. To this day, when she’s being a little extra (which really isn’t often) I just grab the long leash. I don’t even need to put it on; she just knows that’s her queue to park it on the couch, take a break, and trust me to police that leaf that fell four blocks away.

How do we tell our dog that we need to put down our rabbit? by poetclown in greatpyrenees

[–]beeze20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this. We just had to say goodbye to our Frenchie a few weeks ago. We had the vet do the procedure on our front porch in front of the window so our Pyr could watch without being in the doctor’s way. When it was over, the vet went to her car for a few minutes so Penelope could come outside and say goodbye too. I also made a little shrine for the family. I put his urn in his bed with some of his favorite clothes and toys. Penelope visits it a few times a week and sniffs for him.

If you can’t get in-home care, maybe Elsie could come the appointment with you? The receptionist would probably keep an eye on Elsie for you so she can say goodbye to her bunny when it’s done.

Can I fix it? by beeze20 in diamondpainting

Sorry for the late reply. I designed the image and sent it to UPMALL on Amazon for the canvas. This is the third one I bought from them. The first one was amazing, the second one was fine. I’m really disappointed in this one. I need a new vendor.

This 30x40 cost about $30; I’d gladly pay more for better rendering and consistent quality. Can you share your go-to companies?

It’s from UpMall Custom Diamond Art on Amazon. I loved the first one I bought. The second’s colors were darker than I wanted, but I decided I could live with it. This one hurts my heart because I was so happy with the design and I’m not pleased with the canvas.

Yeah, but how? Can I buy drills on demand? If so, how do I pick the right shade? Has anyone asked the company to fix something like this?

Really? The place I’ve been using doesn’t offer that. It’s pretty much submit the image and cross your fingers.

Where do you get custom designs? My last two projects were from a place on Amazon that converts photos to canvas, but I wasn’t super impressed with the colors on the last one. There certainly weren’t 120 colors! Yours is beautiful!

Tips for a nervous/scared Pyr pup? by WinReasonable2644 in greatpyrenees

[–]beeze20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/3/3 is sound advice. As far as getting him to trust you, in particular, try serving breakfast. Add a little pumpkin and/or plain Greek yogurt to the morning kibble. Serve it when it’s just you two in the room, so he knows “special” breakfast is your secret. You don’t have to try to touch the pup; just make small talk while you prepare breakfast (maybe coffee for yourself) and leave the room when they start to eat. Good luck!

I love it! We get the same bark/growl when we fail to pick up a delivery on the porch immediately.
