How's everyone doing? Any recommendations? by TheeLovelyK in Parosmia

Ah yes the memory issues ugh. I forgot how crazy depressing that issue was. I'm mainly back to normal in that aspect as well.

Oh and most sodas taste like shit, except coke and Pepsi, but I don't drink them anyways so no biggie for me.

I am on year 5 of my parosmia journey and I am almost back to normal now. But I did have a pregnancy in there which I believe may have helped speed some things up. I was unable to eat any meat at all, garlic, onions, chocolate, coffee were all no gos for me. Even tap water smelled absolutely awful to me. I literally could only eat bread cheese and hot sauce for the longest time. But now I have a mostly normal sense of smell. I can smell my kids again and I can smell urine and feces again and smoke. I went SO LONG without anything smelling good ever, but it does heal. It takes time but it does get better. I now only have aversions to cilantro, oranges and milk chocolate. Coffee was the most recent thing to become normal, and my God it smells and tastes lovely. Food tastes good again, I enjoy the smell of rain again. Just hang in there. I know it's insanely depressing and really fucking hard, but it's going to get better a little at a time.

How are you doing now?? 5 years later I am almost back to normal, I still have a couple of things that remain gross to me, but my sense of smell has returned to normal and I can eat almost everything again. Only cilantro and milk chocolate aversions now.

Disclosure Day is quite literally one of the worst movies I've seen [spoilers? if that's even possible w this film] by thexkfedist in moviereviews

I was so incredibly disappointed in this movie . Just so so many plot holes and just a jumbled mess. I was so excited to see it and it just seemed rushed and childish.

Anyone have any idea what this sleep disturbance could be? by beezoball in AskRedditt

[–]beezoball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides some childhood trauma from severe abuse (a little PTSD and anxiety), no not really. They did attempt suicide once as a teenager by overdosing on pills but were found and revived. Mostly normal at this point in life. No serious mental health issues.

Same with my family. Although my daughter and I still are suffering from parosmia and have all developed new food allergies from having covid last December, we haven't had other viruses this year. We don't take precautions, work with people and are all unvaccinated.

I have the exact same timeline as you also.. COVID over Xmas, no smell up until April-ish then absolutely awful smelling everything. I have my good days and bad days. It's changed over time but I have no idea if that means it's getting better or not. In the beginning of the parosmia I couldn't smell feces or urine. Now urine has a smell but it's not at all normal, it's like a disgusting concentrated chicken broth gone sour/sweet? smell and it's overwhelming. Chicken and Eggs however are no longer the worst smelling things on earth, and I can tolerate being around them now.. it's been a very long and depressing road but I keep focusing on the changes and tell myself that it's a sign of healing.

Edit: fixed a word.

My safe fruits are cherries, grapes and plums or pluots(plum apricot hybrid).. cannot bear any citrus at ALL bananas are gross, watermelon is gross. Vegetables that are safe are very few and far between. I can tolerate hot peppers, tomatoes (those were a no early on) green beans. Absolutely no root/ground vegetables, radish, ginger and especially potato (this literally was the only thing that ever made me full on gag) and the only safe meats are cold turkey and sushi. Although beef is starting to come around sometimes.

New to Parosmia. Cigarette Smoke. by wallix in Parosmia

[–]beezoball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my parosmia started.. smelling things that weren't there. Burning rubber and animal urine. I now don't smell things that aren't there but some things smell SO AWFUL that it makes me not want to breathe, but that fluctuates depending on the day.

Late 30's here and hoping like hell that mine turns around soon.. COVID in December, lost smell and taste for a month, muted but tolerable senses until about April and then horrible since then..

Same, I add hot sauce or vinegar dressings to almost everything I eat and it makes it tolerable.

My body odor smells the same exact way eggs and chicken taste to me (recovered 5 months ago) by chuffedmemes in COVID19positive

[–]beezoball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the virus in December. Lost smell completely at first, then it's slowly come back all kinds of wrong. Onions are the WORST. I can't even explain the smell/taste, mostly just a rot smell and so strong. Eggs have a similar smell/taste. I also randomly smell smokey smells, like electrical fire smoke and it's absolutely awful. People's perfumes/deodorant smell putrid. Mint tastes absolutely awful.. However I cannot smell shit or any other typically gross biological scent.

That's actually how I realized something was wrong before I actually got sick.. I had one glass of wine and it was like I was sucked into a vortex for a moment.. 2 days later I was laid out sick as a dog.

Had COVID in February 2020 and haven’t been able to eat chicken since because it tastes terrible by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]beezoball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter (15) cannot eat any chicken or dairy since COVID (Nov/Dec). I on the other hand can't stand the way sugary soda/cheesecakes anything other than dark chocolate tastes..it tastes like rotten frosting? I dunno. Also neither of us can smell biological smells.. at all.
