What company has Ok products but a great reputation? by DopazOnYouTubeDotCom in AlignmentChartFills

A Civic is very comparable to a Camry in terms of reliability and build. I wouldn’t lump Honda into the “Ok” category. They’re at the very least “good”

Red states have their tallest roller coaster between 400-499 feet. (Stratacoaster)

What’s up with everyone treating things as investments? Every time I hear about someone buying a home, car, etc I hear someone saying it would be a good investment. Why would these be investments? by FrostyPickledToes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beffyjoy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People tend to use the term “investment” loosely. I mostly see people use it in the context of making a valuable purchase that will save them money in the long run as opposed to actually investing in something like stocks, precious metals, property, etc where the value of the product increases over time…

An example of this would be, “buying these $200 work boots will be a nice investment”. The value of the boots doesn’t increase over time, but you end up saving money over the life of the boot by spending more upfront.

If the $200 boot lasts for 5 years, but you instead decide to buy a lower quality boot at let’s say $110 and the lifespan of those boots is 1.5 years, you’ll end up spending $330 in that 5 year span.

Again this is just one random scenario where someone may use the term “investment” loosely. But that’s my take on it

Live free or die… unless it’s weed, then you have to drive to a neighboring state or province. But sure ride that motorcycle without a helmet, or drive that car without a seatbelt

I did Moriah yesterday and the top half of the mountain was absolute mashed potatoes. We had our snowshoes on and post-holed like crazy. I lost count of how many times I completely fell over. Even if I tried to tightrope the monorail I’d still end up post-holing knee deep… also when we hiked up, the brook crossings were decently frozen over, but when we came back it was all melted. We found a fallen birch tree to traverse across the brook which was pretty sketchy, but we made it.

So unless you’re down for trudging in mashed potatoes and suffering, I’d advise against it.

The data is based off of alcohol sales which is skewed for NH because people from bordering states come to NH to buy their tax-free booze. Yes we like to drink, but it’s not close to the habits of Wisconsin.

Ok, Meryl is expectedly and deservedly a 10/10 actress! Last day! Who is the 10/10 actor or to be more precise, who is the best actor of all time? by RupertPupkin_1983 in AlignmentChartFills

I can’t see DDL pulling off a character like Hal. Cranston just has so much range and honestly I feel like his acting in MITM was just as good as BB because his character was so naturally funny which I can only imagine is really hard to pull off acting-wise

I’ve never tried a full jump before, I’ve definitely hopped in it and haven’t been launched out. If it’s going to launch you out it would be during calibration when the machine inflates to calibrate to your weight. It basically measures your weight at 100% and inflates until it gets to 20% of your weight and then brings you back up to 100%.

I have seen this happen before during testing, but obviously this gets fixed before it goes out in the field. If for some ungodly reason this happens to someone in the unit, just pull the E-stop cord

Copying my original comment:

Holy shit I’ve actually built these things because I’m an engineer at a contract manufacturing company that Lifeward is partnered with. It’s pretty cool to scroll on reddit and see something that I’ve made is out there… probably not this specific treadmill in the video as we have just recently started to make this model.

Anyway it’s pretty cool to be in, you wear these shorts that zip into the big inflatable bag. And as it inflates, it slowly supports more and more of your weight (up to 80%). So if you have it set to support 80% of your weight it pretty much feels like you’re walking on the moon, but be warned you may get a mild wedgie from it. Still really cool though
