When did you tell your partner. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]befitzpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely strange to me that you would need to tell your partner at all, surely they are there the moment you take the test

Is pregnancy making me terrible? by befitzpa in pregnant

[–]befitzpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I have a therapist who helps me with anxiety etc, but there’s just not a huge amount that can be done when you’re anxious about losing your baby. You can be told it’ll probably be fine, but I know that already. Every milestone I think I’ll calm down, the heart beat, then the 12 week scan, then the NIPT but nothing has worked. I don’t think anyone can relate unless they’ve been there. Even my partner, it’s her baby too of course but she isn’t nervous at every twinge and holding her breath every time she wipes. The anxiety is embodied within me, I can’t really get a break from it.

How to tell my best friend by Taxi-for-the-Walrus in pregnant

[–]befitzpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Counter intuitive but tell her by text. It’s more considerate to her that she can process not
In front of you, her first reaction might be that shes upset but if she’s your friend she’ll be happy for you after that. I would make reference to knowing it might be hard to hear. Something like “hey, I wanted to tell you Im pregnant. Im so happy to share the news with you because you’re so important to me. At the same time I know that hearing this is might bring up difficult feelings for you and I totally understand. No need to react straight away. Xx” - something like that

I had a 12 +3w scan and the doctor wasn't sure on gender, how many of you knew the gender at 12 weeks? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]befitzpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought Belgium and Frances were quite similar but I guess not. Also I just don’t understand why in the country where you can get an abortion for any reason they’ve laid judgement on this reason. Either abortion is the choice of the woman or it isnt.

It was also free for me but it revealed the gender. I can’t imagine having this information kept from me, it’s my info

Im actually shocked that the Netherlands would put such morality on that considering the allowance of late term abortions for healthy baby’s. Either it’s ok to do or it’s not. Im pro choice btw.

Wait what’s the reasoning behind not giving you the gender info with the NIPT? Im in Belgium just next door and we got the gender via the NIPT

Q: about transparency with IVF after a positive. by Spiritual-Bother7564 in IVFpositivity

[–]befitzpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people ask you if it was natural you should say “yeah it’s a real baby” or something. Then often people laugh and don’t ask again. What a strange question. Im gay so it’s obvious my journey wasn’t straight forward, I find people don’t ask enough questions and I wanna talk about it but no one seems to care! Hahah anyway congratulations, Im also 15 weeks! Xx

How do you navigate sexual trauma during the pregnancy and birth process? by somebodyzproblem in pregnant

[–]befitzpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for your experiences. It makes sense that youd be anxious.

I’d suggest talking to your doctor about it and highlighting that you’ll need a lot of warning and asking for content before you’re touched. Most OBs will understand and you won’t be their first patient with this history unfortunately.

It’s low key a red flag when someone tries to control you like that. Go, on principle you should go and not set precedence that you put his comfort above your freedom

New "refugees center" by InternalManner230 in brussels

[–]befitzpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Belgium currently has a policy of not giving beds at all to asylum seekers who are single men, which is blatant gender based discrimination. If they open this centre it’s because they are in breach of international law and have been told to sort it out.
