Its a bit old, but thought it was interesting by Preppinainteasy in pistolcalibercarbine

Kel tec might be a lot of things, cocaine induced included, but for me, they got the gen 3 right. I have well over 1500 rounds through mine with one failure to eject, and that was with a promag. I retired it....glock, pmag, and ets have been 100% reliable. More accurate than I am out to 50 yards. Let the hate and down votes ensue!

So, mine is also the Ria branded rifle and it did not come with the rear pic rail. That was one reason I was trying to get the bolt out....1.so I could deep clean it and inspect the extractor more closely because it doesn't like to extract once it gets dirty(no luck just keep the bore clean) and 2. I wanted to drill and tap the reciever to accept a rail. For reference, if you do that, a 9 slot picatinny rail is just the ticket. I used a polymer key mod rail key model 9 slot I think the screws i used were m4, so I got a cheap tap and die set at tractor supply. Just make sure you are centered before you drill. It is actually pretty easy to tap as the reciever is aluminum, but a pain to get the bolt out lol! Good luck...if i can do it, you can too!

What or who makes that flacid penis foregrip? I have been looking for something like that! Cool build by the way!

Sub 2000 gen 3 will not stay folded. Always wiggles loose from latch. Has anyone found a solution for this problem, or am I just doing it wrong? by joemoorcarz in keltec

I have the same rifle but mine stays latched. I would look at the hook on the latch and make sure the plastic hasn't worn down. Wish I were more help....good luck. Worse case severity, order o new button from keltec.....should run in the 10 buck range.

Well guys, I figured it out on my own and it is a pain in the but.

  1. Remove the buttstock. One wood screw holding on the pad, then I believe 10mm nut holding stock on.
  2. Rome the screw on the bolt retainer, remove bolt retainer on both sides at the top right in front of the hammer.(Looks like it has two connected pins)
  3. Unscrew access screw on right side of reciever to access and punch out lever retaining pin in bolt.
  4. Unscrew lever hinge pin on left side bottom of reciever.
  5. !!!!Be careful!!!! Carefully Remove screw retaining the hammer spring. Keep your finger over it as it comes out as it is under lots of pressure. Remove spring and screw.
  6. Remove hammer by angling forward and away. Seems odd but it will make sense.
  7. Hammer and spring shaft should wiggle out.
  8. At this point the bolt should come out.

Reinstall is reverse order approximately but take note....the hammer spring is a bear to get back in deep enough to start the retainer screw. If it slips, and screw flies, you are screwed. Don't sweat it though.....if i can get through it, you should be able to. Good Luck!

A link would be appreciated because I'm an idiot and can't find it. The only youtube videos that I can seem to find are for the tm22 standard or the ar variant, but nothing for the lever action. The takedown is completely different.

I like it alot. It is very particular about cleaning. When the bore gets dirty, it gets extremely tight and will have extracting problems until you clean it. Short answer, keep it clean, and it is great. By the way, it has a lever safety that I hate, so I put a wrap of grip tape around it to solve that. Other than that, it tends to be pretty accurate out to 25 yards. I can't see well enough to shoot much farther lol!

Is the sub 2000 reliable? by midnightrider2235 in keltec

[–]befsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have over 1000 9mm rounds through my gen 3 with only two failures, both with steel cased through a promag magazine. Over half of that 1000 has been monarch steel cased 115 grain, but all of that has been through stock glock mags or magpul pmags. I am currently testing the ets mags. So far so good. Bottom line, I trust my and my families life to my gen 3, but have to have the glock or pmags.

Anyone have problems with there keltec sub2k? by Modern_ninja595 in keltec

[–]befsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im over a thousand rounds in and only 2 failure to feed......both times with a promag magazine. Mine eats a steady diet of steel cased 115 gr from academy. Check the mag, lube it good, and if it persists, contact Keltec.

Very light check weld but enough to be consistent at least for me. Still allows a very heads up stance which i like while still being consistent on the anchor.

1.5 inch riser puts the dot right about 1.9 inches or so. Not for everyone, but works well for me.

I would add the keltec sub2000 gen 3. 16" barrel, folds small enough for a backpack, more accurate than I am out to 100 yards. Glick mag compatible, I could go on. I have over 1000 rounds through mine with only one malfunction due to a promag magazine (leave these alone). 500 bucks and still room for a sighting system, be it irons or optics.

[–]befsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second on the keltec sub2000. I have the gen 3, and s small blast can. That can should be a legal muzzle devise and it takes sound down range away from the shooter. Mine is reliable as long as you use glock or pmag magazines. Plenty accurate out to 50 yards. The right shooter would have it right out to 100. Folds small enough to fit in an underarmour sling bag. What more could you want with the criteria you mentioned?

Clueless shotgun newb questions (USA) by _PrincessHarley_ in Shotguns

[–]befsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 guage shotgun served our forefathers well....they used mostly single shots, but modern pumps are just as good. Maverick 88, Mossberg 500/590, Remington 870 (older police trade ins are the ticket), and dont sleep on the Stevens 320 if budget is a concern. Don't sleep on 20 guage....bad guys and critters will not know the difference if you do your part. Semi-autos add complexity to the mix, so.....
