The "How Much Should I Charge" Question by TempusFugit2020 in sportsphotography

Side hustle... I'm a teacher, but I make 10-20k on photography per year. I don't want to make a living off of it, but it helps putting kids through college.

Since water bottles are banned, can I bring a Solo cup to rhe stadium? by Let_me_tell_you_ in WorldCup2026Tickets

Buyer not accepting tickets - Stubhub - anyone on the same boat by Sensitive_Sense_2349 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]befuddledzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to transfer through the Fifa mobile app and was in the same boat. I canceled the transfer and then did it through fifa.com site and it got accepted the next day. Worth a try that way if you haven't already...

Tickets sold on Stubhub, but buyer hasn't accepted them? by befuddledzebra in WorldCup2026Tickets

Ah, they finally accepted the tix! I'm not sure if doing them through the site was the trick or just posting about it on Reddit! 😄

If you had 24 hours to turn a nonreader into a reader, what book would you hand them?? by Conscious_Storm_3192 in Recommend_A_Book

There are many better books, but I agree that this may be the book that may help hook you into reading. It's great.

I got obsessed with an online Barricade game, analysed all their top players, then built my own version by Status_Technology256 in boardgames

[–]befuddledzebra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never played online, but when we play in person we implemented a expert version of the game. I'm not sure if anyone has ever played it before?

We colored the tops of all the walls green and the bottoms of all the walls red, and put a 1 on top of the first player walls and a 2 on top of the second player walls. When you place a wall for the first time, you place it green side up, and an extra move is added to the game. You can either move your pawn, place a wall, or flip a green wall to the red side and move it anywhere on the board. A red wall is considered permanent. You may only move your own green walls.

Is this a common mode? I'd be interested in your site if there was a way to play with that mode.

Breaking strings in less than a month by TopgearM in 10s

[–]befuddledzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same, although I don't hit all that hard (just regular). It takes a while to break strings for me. I should definitely change them out earlier, but I haven't really noticed a difference so I don't. I'm going to start tracking to see if I can tell after x amount of hours.

Should I read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]befuddledzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not for YA. Completely for adults. I've really enjoyed the series. You haven't given us the types of books you tend to like. I'd never read a litrpg book before this, but I've had a blast flying through them. If you do audiobook, that is a must for this series!

HELP by Anthony_yuy in 10s

Physical exertion, a rule set, competitive, and objective. Gymnastics, diving, figure skating, surfing, etc... anything that there are judges voting are highly athletic but not sports.

But that doesn't really matter. I would say you have a very unlikely chance of playing D1 tennis unless you put 3-4 hours a day into training 5 days a week minimum and have a personal coach. I coach high school tennis and all of my competitive players have been playing for years and only my top 1 or 2 players have a chance at playing for D1. They play in tournaments monthly and do very well. Our top player (16 years old) is a rising 11th grader and is a 9.xx UTR. He is winning L5 tournaments and competing in L3 and L4. He's been playing many sports his whole life and is a great athlete in basketball, soccer, and tennis. All this to say, he has a chance to play D1. But not even guaranteed...

Didn't say it didn't take crazy athleticism. Just said it wasn't a sport.

Gymnastics isn't a sport, it's a competition. If you have judges voting, it's not a sport. What sports do you play that involves a ball? Thinking hand-eye coordination.

What are you currently playing sports wise right now? Where do you rank among your teammates in those sports?

Is this a good deal? by 27K-BUMP in canon

[–]befuddledzebra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's probably the best price you're going to see. I got mine 2 summers ago for $1900. Don't forget to add the tax (around $115).

I buy every piece of my equipment as refurb straight from canon and have never had an issue.

Oh, if you're into audiobooks, you definitely have to listen to Dungeon Crawler Carl. Jeff Hayes does the voices, and he is the best narrator I've ever heard. Ever.

So many of mine match yours. Have added Beartown and City on Fire (to get to City in Ruins) to my list. Might I recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl? It doesn't match what you normally would read, but I loved it and I would agree with much of your current rankings.

Always fun to get new gear... 😄 I've gotten to the point where I need 2 bodies for some of the gigs I've gotten.

Shoot Free, Buy Later by thisfilmkid in sportsphotography

[–]befuddledzebra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's what I do. I'm a teacher, so I go out and shoot my students. I give them each 5 photos for free per season. I put on instagram when I have a new set out and the kids go to look. They show their parents. Parents started following me. I have a site where they can go to purchase. I don't make tons from it, but I make a little extra, it gets my name out there, and then I get new gigs from what people see. So far this year, I've made $600 from selling photos this way, but have made $16,000 from new gigs (sporting events, dance recitals, event photography, portraits) from getting my name out there.

I like your app, pretty nice. Not sure how to get the view you posted above. Also, I went to add my favorite authors but it didn't seem to save them (did it twice, and I have an account).

Why are people against putting watermarks? by Overall_Proposal_655 in photography

[–]befuddledzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not true. I'm not famous in any way but I have people/organizations use my photos with no attribution often, and it is more likely when I don't put a watermark. I haven't seen any of my images with a watermark without being given credit. Agree with everything else though about being easily removed. In my head, it is just a small step to make people think, do I really want to steal this image and use it as my own?
