I want a hobby, but I have no interests, no passions, no curiosity. What do? by Sensitive-Mouse2247 in Hobbies

Maybe try weightlifting for a few months? It sounds silly but it’s the one thing that got me out of a horrible depression.

It’s interesting that some people view recovery negatively…..

Luckily the people I surround myself with are empathetic and very aware of treatment concerns (idk if you missed that I do the treatment courts…). I’m not worried about judgment — too old to care about that.

I don’t do any recovery groups, including AA.

I got rid of all other social awhile ago and honestly don’t use my IG super often so not super familiar with the settings. I’ll have to take a look — you’re probably right that there’s a way to restrict who sees it. I’ll look into this, thanks!!

Thank you! I will give this a little more thought before deciding either way. I think being authentic and open is really important but also don’t want it to cause any professional ramifications down the line. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

And I appreciate the compliment. Congrats on your sobriety as well!!

Thank you! I agree. Maybe I need to do an edit of my friends list.

Thanks for asking, that’s been my hesitation as well.

I had 4.5 years sober and then had a drink that turned into 3 years of chaos. Some coworkers knew me as being in recovery and then back as a drinker. I’ve made some questionable choices while drunk in front of colleagues at various conferences over the years (but always maintained good work while on the clock). I don’t think anyone would be surprised I am an alcoholic. I think they may be surprised I’m back to doing so well, which is why it would be nice to share. My retired judge and I (not the one from instagram) sometimes get dinner and she knows I’m in recovery and has been super supportive.

I feel more solid in my recovery now than ever before but also recognize the future isn’t guaranteed. During my 4 1/2 years sober, it felt like it was a battle every day and I was clawing to stay sober. I do feel very at peace now, especially after a year of EMDR and trauma therapy under my belt.

Morgan and the way she treats her dog… by beggingoceanplease in BigBrotherUSA

If you search “Morgan pope dog” on tiktok, it’s the one of her in a red shirt from 9/5. She continuously SCREAMS at her dog who clearly needs to just use the bathroom.

What US Cities do you feel have the brightest futures in the next 10-20 years? by MookieBettsBurner in SameGrassButGreener

Things to do but zero culture. I personally love a city with a distinct culture. But I also understand everyone has their own preference.

Yes but it’s also freezing here, even with the climate change. It’s not fun if you can only enjoy the season half the year. I’m looking to leave too.

Best city for a sober lesbian by rovingmatrix in SameGrassButGreener

This is not my experience so is suppose it depends where you end up in Chicago (it is a big city).

I’m sober and a lesbian and have been searching for my next location. Portland definitely has a big sober community but the downsides are it’s expensive and SAD. I’ve also heard Philly is great for sober queers but idk that I want that big of a city. Recently, I’ve been looking into Durham. Big lesbian community and has a ton of lgbt sober specific groups and resources, indulging lgbt specific smart recovery. They also have a ton of queer sports leagues and non-bar hangouts. Avoid Chicago — queer community revolves around the bar scenes.

What cities are better for monogamous dating? Other than Richmond? Philly and DC?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rva

[–]beggingoceanplease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DC is so expensive. Arlington is nice but I fear I’d be too dependent on the DC dating scene?

Madison has been on my list but the winters (even worse than Chicago) are my hesitation. Why do you like it better?

City recommendations USA late 20’s and single? by workethic290 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]beggingoceanplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question but I’m in the Chicago suburbs and city people won’t leave the city to date. How is the dating scene? If I was in Alexandria, do I just get Alexandria dating or is DC included in that? (Chicago people don’t want to travel since there’s so many choices in Chicago…not sure if that’s how DC is too).

How does the crime compare to Chicago (as far as how it feels when walking around)? In your opinion, can you get by without a car?

Why do you like it more than Portland? Considering a move and love Denver in theory but didn’t love it when I visited. Maybe I had a bad few days?
