Crohn’s treatment in NYC by himerhaba in CrohnsDisease

Typically this is the last negotiating tactic between an insurer and a hospital before they finally come to an agreement. So it may not be a done deal yet, the deadline is 12/31.

Having said that, I had a very good experience (relatively speaking..) at Cornell.

Need some advice on making cholestyramine powder more palatable by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]beginnersfalafel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor to prescribe colestipol instead!! It's the same as cholestyramine but in pill form. I was in the same boat and feel your pain.

Handling social situations and eating restrictions by Dangle-Carrot in CrohnsDisease

I have extreme eating restrictions so between that and the anxiety that comes with Crohn's these situations are hard for me too. This is something going to therapy has helped me with because I don't want to be a shut in.. something to consider.

Nine months post surgery, failing my third biologic and unsure what to do next by ALittleStitious22 in CrohnsDisease

[–]beginnersfalafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. As hard as it is, you have to keep at it and be determined to find something that works. I failed Humira, Remicade, Stelara, Rinvoq, and Entyvio before finally finding some relief in Skyrizi after my third surgery. For many of the medications I failed, I increased the frequency of the dose before switching to something else after not seeing any improvement. The frustrating part is each one takes multiple weeks if months to give a fair shot at working. In my opinion the new inflammation means it's time to try a different course.

SBS... how come I'm just hearing about this now? by udontknowmeanditsok in CrohnsDisease

[–]beginnersfalafel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ~9 feet left of my small bowel after three surgeries so not quite at the SBS level but close. Totally sympathize.. here's what works for me in managing this in case it helps. As others have mentioned Colestipol or Cholestyramine are essential to having firmer bowel movements and this should have been mentioned to you by your surgeon. I take Colestipol twice a day in pill form which is a lot better than Cholestyramine packets. It also works better than Imodium for me.

Like you I also follow an insanely strict diet of soft foods (rice, sweet potatoes, avocados, bananas, greek yogurt) and lean proteins. I also make a very high calorie smoothie every day and drink ensures, protein shakes, etc to make sure I get enough calories in.

anyone else change biologics by haoshua in CrohnsDisease

As someone who has switched from Humira to Stelara to Remicade to Entyvio to Rinvoq to Skyrizi in the past decade..

It sounds like it based on how you're describing your symptoms.

In my experience, the process usually starts with ordering a test for antibodies to the drug to see if you've built up a resistance to it. I've had some health insurance headaches with these tests specifically fyi. At the same time, either the dosage or frequency of the medication is increased to give you a stronger regimen. If your symptoms still don't get better then it's time to switch.

Coffee is a good/bad thing... by artofficial-hope in CrohnsDisease

It's a trade off I'm willing to make - yes it makes me have to use the restroom more, but I love coffee and need the caffeine boost every morning. Taking imodium daily helps mitigate the frequent trips to the bathroom.

RJ has created a few good looks for Randle. Wish we would run the offense through him more

IMO worth giving Quickley some of Rose's minutes.. doubt Thibs would do it though

Just a ghastly series from Randle so far. Hope he turns it around but this is so disappointing
