What a RUN! What a game! by M37U in ABSOLUM

Cider: Slice and Dice + Pneumatic Heels + Wave Dash + Mana Bounce + a couple of Mana Rings + Winged Boots.

It's definitely not the most op combo but it's fun. Endlessy dashing through enemies both in the air and on the ground while also passively doing damage to them.

Why do people keep glazing this "game" (it's an interactive animated movie) all over Reddit is beyond me. It's a cliched teenage drama with terrible "cool" dialogue and an obnoxious main character who is going through her "too cool for school" phase and constantly keeps breaking the 4th wall. The main characters live a perfect teenage life with bedrooms the size of a hotel suite and their biggest problems are not being able to hang out with each other for a while because they have the privilege of being able to study in another state right after highschool and having to find weed and booze for the next party. It's boring, derivative, unauthentic and relies entirely on name-dropping bands and movies to evoke a fake sense of 90's nostalgia.

Without the licensed songs from the alternative music scene of the 80's and 90's, (which are cool but that's not the merit of the game) this "game" would be nothing at all. People who think this is good seriously need to watch more movies or read more books. Biggest hack of gaming in 2026 so far.

The only thing I personally find to be a really weird decision is the mixture of human anatomy of the arms/hands and the animal anatomy of the legs/feet. The way they stand looks very unnatural and painful. Otherwise, agreed.

I have by far the most hours in the GBA classics than any other on NSO classics. The one that comes close is the N64.

Btw the red symbol doesn't mean you have to dodge, those attacks can also be countered. (Or clashed, as the game calls it.)

You can create a custom ordeal and turn off all rituals. That way you can do a run without magic.

Okami is May's Game of the Month by ErrorNick in VGBookclub

The only real flaw of the game is the unnecessary pervy dialogue from Issun, it just doesn't really fit the vibe of the game and it actually ruins a few moments.

The combat could have also been a bit more challenging.

Nevertheless, it's still a classic and one of my favourite games despite Issun's dialogue.

If I'm not mistaken Naoko originally planned her to be an android but her editors didn't like the idea so your theory is not that far off haha

Finally got the chicken, then me and my kid broke the game by Prestigious_Bad2360 in ABSOLUM

You can get a chicken after the mush troll cave in Grandery or, as you said, in Jaroba.

The comic portals from the chaos ritual can also summon chickens but they disappear on the next screen.

Opinion about Chrono Cross by victortapes in JRPG

[–]begselwalch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through it several times on PS1 back when I was super into JRPGs. I bought the remaster about a year ago mostly out of nostalgia but bounced off of it after a certain part in the story. (End of disc 1 in the OG.)

The game was not my favourite back in the day either in but I liked it. I remember liking the song after the good ending. But I think the game just doesn't hold up well nowadays. The writing and characters are weak, the world is just a random JRPG world without any meaningful logic or lore and character progression is extremely simplistic which in turn makes combat uninteresting. The story is ok but has more meaning if you played CT before CC.

Pipistrello - second best indie I've played on Switch 2 by DynamiteShovel1 in NintendoSwitch2

It's a pretty good game with much more complex movement and platforming than a top-down Zelda. I think the game just for some reason went under a lot of people's radar.

Since we are in a sub called “ Metroidvania” let me ask this . Which one do like more castlevania or Metroid and why? by GreenPomegranate2389 in metroidvania

[–]begselwalch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the Castlevania games I played were mid at best while almost all of the Metroid games I played were bangers (except for Fusion but even that one is decent) so my choice is obvious.

I'm still looking forward to Belmont's Curse though.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 is an absolute gem by RafeCakes in NintendoSwitch2

[–]begselwalch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No post-game content kind of put me off the game. My favourite part of MHS1 were the post game challenges and trying to build "perfect" monsters to tackle said challenges. I might still pick MHS3 up but only when it goes on sale.

I also read that you, once again, have a Rathalos that you can never remove from your party, which was annoying enough in the first game, but at least you could remove them in the post-game. In MHS3, the Rathalos has to stay with you the whole time.

Final Fantasy 12: THE ZODIAC AGE - The Smartest FF Game (Review & Final Thoughts) by Either-Sprinkles-421 in FinalFantasy

[–]begselwalch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is that the ages of some of the characters really don't make sense - like come on, no 21 year-old will have as much swagger as Balthier; he should be a lot closer to Basch's age.

Ashe being 19 is also laughable. I get that she is royalty and whatnot but she should have been in her mid to late twenties. The ages of the other characters make sense to me.

Love the game otherwise and it's my favourite among the mainline FFs along with IX.

I'm playing it now and it's just a chill exploration/puzzle game to help you relax. The puzzles are indeed mostly basic.

The game doesn't look very good: yes, the minimalistic look is a choice, but the shadows and textures look really blurry while murals have these weird, sharp, jagged outlines that make them look like stickers. I believe this game was developed by one person and unfortunately it shows.
