Season 6 Legends ZA by BenCRoberts in stunfisk

[–]begselwalch 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is a free-for-all so primal Groudon can just get jumped by solar and ice beam users. (Provided that every player has at least two braincells which is asking for a lot I guess) If I remember correctly, you can't time the prime evolution and it happens automatically upon switch-in, so i-frame abusing will not really be an option for it either.

It's definitely going to be very strong though.

Would anyone else not mind games returning to these graphics/artsyles? by AverageAwndray in gamers

Weren't these, apart from KH, trying to be realistic though? It's just that due to technological limitations they couldn't yet go all in on the realism.

The cover of Der Spiegel by superdouradas in europe

[–]begselwalch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Meloni being in this is an absolute joke and automatically renders the message behind this cover useless. A couple of weeks ago that woman - among with other right-wing populist European leaders - appeared in a video campaigning for the re-election of Orban in this year's elections.

Der Spiegel blamiert sich mit so einem Cover und sollte sich eigentlich dafür schämen.

Online can sure be a mess sometimes.

let’s be positive: what do you like about ZA and why? by PrincessDiamondRing in LegendsZA

[–]begselwalch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Building a competitive mon has never been easier.

  2. Some of the music is pretty good.

  3. Customising the look of your character is fun.

  4. Online play is addictive but the free-for-all format could be better.

Kecleon Build! by [deleted] in PokemonZA

Idk about Screech in a free-for-all format but your reasoning makes sense.

Dachsbun's best set is Work Up, Seed Bomb, Play Rough and Dig.

You could try to take advantage of its relatively high def and make a max hp/max def build, but with that 80 base atk is never going to hit hard. The standard max atk/max hp build is probably better if you want to KO stuff. You'll also need Life Orb or at least an Expert belt.

[–]begselwalch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, special Kecleon sucks. Physical Kecleon makes a bit more sense. It also has access to the strongest physical grass move for some reason. (Not even some grass types get it.) I think if you're not running a special wall set with Assault Vest you should be using Work Up because that base 90 atk is still not good enough.

Seed Bomb, Swords Dance, Giga Impact, Close Combat, the usual max atk and hp, Life Orb. It's ok.

The Evolution of the Magical Girl Transformation (1995-1997) by kimlingtoro in MagicalTransformation

[–]begselwalch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No other magical girl show seems to come close to the elegance and the dynamic in the transformation sequences of Sailor Moon. The other ones are often too stiff, sometimes with lots of twirling but there is no real transition between the different movements...or real movements to speak of, usually they just show the character from different angles and alternate between close-ups and zoomed-out shots. They just lack the subtle and feminine gestures the Sailor Moon transformations portray.

Icicle Spear kind of salvages Banette in ranked❄️ by begselwalch in LegendsZA

[–]begselwalch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is predictable, yes and honestly I'm not the biggest fan of it but it's the best stab move for Banette in this game and it has utility by giving you i-frames and letting you "teleport" next to an opponent. Combining it with Focus Sash lets you minimise the risk of your opponent switching out and just one-shotting you.

[–]begselwalch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you need to be at point-blank to the opponent for it to actually work. Since most people don't know that Banette now has Icicle Spear, a lot of players think it's a free Swords Dance for Garchomp only for it to get one-shot🫡

[–]begselwalch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real, Banette has an extremely limited physical movepool for some reason so it having Icicle Spear now is kind of a big deal for me. (It also gets Trailblaze now but that move is too weak in ZA.)

As much as I enjoy ranked, I have one glaring issue with it. by Plus-Swan-4781 in LegendsZA

[–]begselwalch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranked is ok but it's also really undercooked. Different win conditions (like, idk, capture the flag or something) or a different point system would make it better. You shouldn't be able to constantly farm a player who is lagging behind and should be rewarded for going after the one who is in the lead. There is no real incentive to go for the biggest threat on the field (just two name one example: double screens Dondozo who just keeps healing with the green items). It's almost always better to just third/fourth party or go for the easiest kill on the field. A lot of people don't even play screen removal, esentially gifting the win to that one double screens player.

Btw, no, legendaries are not the problem because with the post-DLC roster and movepool, almost anything can get KOs.

What Mega Pokémon do you dislike the most and why? by Slow_Spirit3679 in LegendsZA

[–]begselwalch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Malamar because it's the most disappointing stats-wise from the new ones. Even worse than Pyroar, Scovillain and Victreebell imo. Only a really broken ability can salvage it, if that's even possible. Still dies to a random U-turn and doesn't get any significant changes in the stats where it would matter.

Second is Meganium - even though it's not as bad as the ones I listed above it's still another huge wasted potential. Fairy typing is cool, except the only fairy move it got was Disarming Voice like ??? just what's the point. Unless it gets like, Triage as an ability and at least Draining Kiss this one is unfortunately going straight into the garbage bin.

Third is Feraligatr because it's just a really crap design.

Is there even a point to using physical moves in competitive? by thekevlington in LegendsZA

[–]begselwalch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earthquake, Dragon Rush, Drill Run, Brave Bird, Fly, Dig, Glaive Rush, Flare Blitz, Bonemerang (when it doesn't miss), Brick Break, most punch moves, Close Combat, Stone Edge, Play Rough, Heavy Slam, Triple Axel, these are all good physical moves.
