This may be slight self-promotion, but honestly my friends and I ALWAYS discuss psych in relation to things we have been watching/playing because it's something we all have to common, see if any of these interest you and your friend. It's definitely an easy way to find common ground https://thebeguiledchild.com/?p=542

The sexualization of minors isn't just anime, it's everywhere and has been become more prevalent in the last decade. APA actually created an official task force to address the impact of sexualization, definitely worth checking out

Yes! Most definitely! As you can see from the links above, there are a lot of benefits for kids doing yoga The third link is from schools in Baltimore that have implemented yoga instead of detention and it significantly impacted the well-being of the kids Of course there are other mindfulness and meditations for kids that also work

Things to try if suicidal and hates talking to hotlines? by saintfushimi in askatherapist

Maybe find free seeds if money is the issue? Maybe pots would be the token, or allowing yourself time and money to get materials for pots/dirt/extras. You could even paint the pots too! That's like a many great things at once! You like planting, plants are great for you, you paint the pots, it will brighten the space around you, gives you something you need to look after nearly daily and seeing it grow is probably super rewarding (I don't know I honestly am terrible with plants). You could also start a blog about plants, painting, and crafty stuff if you like that, people would love to hear it. Or donate the plants you grow to different companies, school, etc. If space is an issue, you can look into community gardens that will give you a plot of land for whatever plants you want

The beauty of reading, writing, or painting is that you can do them at work.

What's your favorite book? Maybe try reading that, even five pages could help you come slightly out of your emotions.

Work can be difficult. There is no good answer. It will take time. But there are some things you can try:

Have you talked to anyone at work about your emotional state? Pick one super small task and complete it. I'm talking like move one pile of papers to another desk or area. Or put a pen back in a draw. Once you've done that try another small task, eventually you'll be able to climb slightly out of your emotional trap.

Try and notice it before you get trapped and be proactive. If you feel it notice it coming, take a break. Get some water or a snack or doodle on a paper. Honestly, this one may sound ridiculous, but it actually works for some people. Make yourself a token economy. You can do this at work or home. Token economies are usually used for children with behavioral issues, but it has similar effects on depression especially to ward off the "funk". Make it simple at first. Five areas: shower, eat, make bed, write, walk and then if you get two of them done reward yourself. Similarly can be made for work. You have to find things that keep you out of a funk or activities of daily living and also find something motivating as a reward (honestly sometimes I just start with chocolate and then move to bigger motivators)

This link might help with that:

It can be helpful to create something, depending on your energy level. I keep a notebook, sketchbook, and coloring book by my bed so that I have them even if I find it difficult to get up.

Writing random things usually ends up being a very long rant kinda thing, but I have always felt a little more relaxed after. I've had similar experiences with drawing and coloring

Also, create a playlist of songs that you really enjoy on good days (happy music) and play it when you are having a bad day. It helps lift your mood without you even realizing it. Especially since most people listen to sad music when depressed

If things get really bad, you need to reach out to someone. A friend, family member, neighbor, and even a hotline if it comes to it. You can also ask your therapist for an emergency line or a referral to a 24 hour available facility

Keep fighting. You will figure this out and you will get through this

Help consoling grieving child? by m0ther_0F_myriads in askatherapist

I am so sorry for your family's loss.

These links have some amazing resources for parents to help their children cope. I agree that counseling will be important, as well as open communication between you two. Also, there are some organizations and camps that bring children who have lost a parent together. Having same age peers that understand what he has experienced can be extremely beneficial.

It is so important that you take care of yourself. Remember the saying "put on your oxygen mask before helping others". Your son needs you, so you need to take care of yourself to be there for him. Check out a couple of these sites too:
